Following mod discussions, we have created this catch-all thread to bring together all the autograph threads that are on the forum as well as provide some information to anyone who is looking to seek information or authentication on an autograph.
Needless to say, the forum (and Joe as the owner of the site) does not recommend any site linked to or take responsibility for any outcome, it’s information and never remotely complete at that. There are plenty of others out there so have a look around, decide the way you want to go, and do so at your own cost and risk of disappointment. This post may be edited to update the information contained; if you know of any good sites regarding Beatles autographs please post them below and a mod will add them to the others below.
For those who are seeking authentication for autographs; the general advice is to contact either an auction house or a Beatles autograph authenticator for assistance as not only are there thousands of fakes out there, members of the Beatles own inner circle are known to have signed the Beatles autographs for the Beatles during the 1960s, which makes it even more complicated. It’s a minefield and we are not experts so it can be really difficult to be sure either way.
To these who have Beatles autographs, please feel free to share them on here as folks would love to see them. All Beatles content is always welcome.

[Please note that a handful of threads have been merged (for clarification, Ron Nasty’s post on page three (#53) and the following one by myself are in reply to this post specifically) and whilst all efforts have been taken to ensure the thread is coherent, as Paul said, “If we haven’t done what we could’ve done. We’ve tried” but don’t send us fourpence as we’re not sending you a free one.]

Hey, everybody! I was playing my records yesterday and noticed something I hadn’t before. My copy of Venus And Mars is autographed! But I can’t tell who’s signature it is. I think it’s Denny Laine. Can anyone confirm this or tell me who’s it is?

Hi,
I’d really love to have autographs from Astrid Kirrcherr, Klaus Voormann and Jurgen Vollmer (possibly as autographed pictures.) Does anyone know where I could write and ask these people for their autographs? (I’d do all the shipping both ways, of course.)
Thank you for your help!
Very appreciatively,
bny

AG, Maybe you can convert this topic into the overall “Autographs” thread. I don’t want to make a new one when this is here and is such a specific thing.
So on topic:
I have a few autographs. Mostly unimportant ones that I got just because I happened to be in the same place as someone. An example would be this charity event I volunteered at about 4 years ago, there was a former Miami Dolphin and a former NY Yankee there. (I knew they’d be there so put on a Red Sox shirt I happened to have ) I’m not much of a sports guy, too much into music, but I still got their autographs (and a funny comment on my shirt from the Yank!) anyway.
The one I consider the most important in my collection (if you could call it that!) would be Richie Sambora’s, the guitarist of Bon Jovi.
Two years ago he released his third solo album Aftermath Of The Lowdown, good album, and if you were the first of a certain number to pre-order it you got an extra, autographed, booklet insert!
(Don’t really know where my autographs are right now… Should probably look for those…)
I’m planning on writing Pattie and Klaus as soon as I move, so I’ll actually get anything they may send back. I’ve read Pattie answers mail (one unconfirmed source though so I hope it’s true). Don’t know about Klaus but why not write anyway?
I’m just going to be realistic and skip Paul, and we all know that Ringo has warned us with Peace and Love!
So who else has any good autographs? We know Joe’s got GM and Mark Lewisohn.

I got the autographs of four jazz musicians of varying fame (two of them now deceased) at a couple of shows in downtown Toronto back in 1991. They’re around here somewhere.
Then after that, for whatever personal reason, I decided I didn’t like the whole procedure of actually asking for autographs, so although I saw several other musicians I liked a lot and always made a point of approaching them on the bandstand for a handshake, I never asked for an autograph again – my knowledge that I met them and shook their hands was memoir enough. But I’d probably still be tempted to frantically search for pen & paper if I saw somebody huge or legendary like Paul McCartney , though.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Thanks Mr. Kite.

Yes, this is a good kind of clean-up project.

When we make changes like this, let’s put a note into post number 1 in the thread. I always try to teach people to go to post 1 of a thread to understand what the thread is all about and how to use the thread. People might not look at the 7th post on the 6th page of a thread to catch that a change has been made.

Autographs purchased – MLB players Derek Jeter (2), Don Mattingly, Alphonso Soriano, Luis Gonzales and Junior Spivey.
Just happened to be in the same place as a rock star – Steven Tyler, Rob Halford
Sent a request in writing as part of a school project – Richard Nixon

I have Paul McCartney , Pete Best, George Martin. I have a few non-Beatles autographs from my youth, mainly Britpop (Super Furry Animals, Supergrass, Stone Roses, probably loads of others somewhere). I don’t think I’d bother asking for one nowadays, unless it was Beatle-related. Famous people’s signatures don’t really interest me per se – I’d rather have the memory of a good experience of meeting them. Though if David Bowie walked by I’d probably let out a small yelp and pray that I had a pen on me.

I never thought of it this way, but a friend called me “a setlist girl.” I like getting setlists when possible and having the artist sign them. I have one signed by Simon and Nick of Duran Duran, another by Janelle Monae. Most recently, of course, was Denny Laine. I got Dhani Harrison to sign one earlier this year.

I’ve got a lot of setlists too! I used to collect them for almost every show I went to. I don’t do it so often now though – my last was probably Patti Smith a couple of years ago, and before that McCartney in 2010 (sadly both unsigned).

That’s amazing you got one of Paul’s setlists. How did you manage that? Were you front row?

Autographs are strange things. I mean, think about it. Those people use their signatures to sign contracts and all and then other people want to have it on cd’s, setlists, books, pictures and stuff. That’s pretty random, who came up with that idea of asking famous people for their autographs. How did this come about? Does anyone have a clue?
I don’t know what I’ve got tonight but I’m pondering the most random things.

You got me wondering. According to this Wiki article, collecting autographs as a hobby started with sports in the 1920s. The article doesn’t cite any sources, so take it with a grain of salt. Hard to imagine it wasn’t in practice before that though.
Incidentally, it lists John’s murder as being one of the events leading to the autograph collecting boom.

No, but I was near the front during the show. At the end I went to the stage and called out to a couple of roadies to ask if I could have a setlist. There was a really annoying woman next to me who kept shouting garbled nonsense at the stagehands, one of whom said to the other: “Just ignore them, you’re here to do a job.” They were clearly intending to dismantle as quickly and professionally as possible, and it was obvious that they wouldn’t give souvenirs to fans.
As I walked out I passed the mixing desk and snuck through the barrier. I went up to the desk and asked the sound engineer if I could have the setlist. He was happy to help!

Thanks for the article anyway. I’ll try to do a bit more research on that

Hello my friends
My grandmother asked me to sell her beatles autograph (cause I’m the computer guy in the family). But I have no clue where the best place is, so that’s why I joined the experts for help :P.
The card has always been there since I can remember, my grandma got it from her sister back in the day when she came back from her travels in England. Her sis went to see them there I believe it was one of there earlier concerts. But I suppose you guys can tell me more about the card.
I don’t have an eBay account with established reputation so that’s out. I don’t have a COA yet because you can’t get it here in Belgium. And I don’t want to risk sending it to the states or something by post. But is a COA even worth it??
To wrap it up: What’s the best place to sell and what do you think it’s worth?
Thank you very much

Before you think about selling it, you may want to see about geting it authenticated. The signatures do not resemble the ones I’ve seen in the past. Check this page of Google images.
I am by no means a collector, so don’t take my word for it. I do know that back in the day, Mal Evans and Neil Aspinall would “sign” autographed pictures and such for the Beatles. It may still be worth something even if they signed them.
