when i’m bored, i like to imagine how it would be, if the beatles were a young “boyband” today, which celeb-girls they would be dating and stuff…
so, i really can see john having an obsessive affair with lady gaga, doing all that “artsy stuff” and annoying the other ones by suggesting a colaberation with her all the time… whereas paul is half-heartedly dating taylor swift (you know, british everybody’s-darling meets american sweetheart), and when they finally (after feeding the tabloids for months) break up, both of them write cheesy songs about it (but paul’s is better, naturally).
sooo… do you have any suggestions for george and ringo? i’m not really sure about them… or do you have other suggestions for paul and john (or for paul’s past-taylor life?) 
i know, it’s not the most sophisticated threat in this forum, but this is the only place to share such silly thoughts… so, let’s toy around with them!

aaaah, i love mclennon (and somehow believe in it)… but to be honest i think they would it keep secret, even today… probably because the fangirls should think the could have a chance… or because some people aren’t that tolerant. i don’t know, but there comes no band to my mind with officially gay members …
to the autotune-thingy: i heard an interview with paul where he complains, that nobody lets him use autotune. he wants to play around with it and his producers are always like: “NO! you don’t need that! leave it alone!”
i think finally he was allowed to use it as a soundeffect in “appreciate”… 😀 – but yeah, this might be different today…

Offline Real talk here. The way a lot of girls on tumblr and everywhere on the internet go all out “SAAAAASSY GAAAY MEEENNNNN!!!” and “I NEED A GAY BEST FRIEND!!! LMAO XDDDD” Just make me gag. I would take McLennon seriously if it weren’t for such a fanbase. 
And I do admit to RPing it with buddies. 
But on another note, I would imagine them being featured on an FOB track. 
I think the Beatles For Sale cover would have been the same, the only exception would be the added eyeliner.

Offline I would like to think that, regardless of the decade they’re in, they’re an extremely creative and talented group of guys, and so wouldn’t do anything like that ^ – but who knows? I find it hard to imagine them being here, creating music today, because they just don’t fit. But I kind of like that. In fact, I really do.

(Ok it was estimated at only 250,000 Australian fans who turned up to see The Beatles but i cant find a photo of that and whats 50,000 between friends.)

Offline haha – famewise??? my parents don’t even know who or what is “one direction” anyway… i don’t think the wouldn’t fit in todays music-world. they would definitely dress up different, though. but the “four different types of guys so every girl finds one she likes”-thing would definitely work today. and i think also some of the music… they have a lot of tunes that are just timeless catchy. and the “grazy s**t” things like Magical Mystery Tour would probably even sell better today than when they were made (although somebody would have to get naked to make it a real bestseller, i vote for paul. )

Offline The trouble with this idea is that you need the Beatles in the ’60’s to get music to where it is today, so if we were to remove them from that period then this period wouldn’t exist to put them into unless we create a whole cross over dimension where we copy the 60’s Beatles and insert them into now but different.
Really we need to get a time machine, go back, clone the four Beatles, Brian, George Martin, Derek Taylor, Neil, Mal & Freda, then travel back to now and let them loose – but with some dodgy disguises and name changes so no-one knows who they are.

Offline Well, I personally wouldn’t recognize 1D if they were actually photographed crossing Abbey Road (as indeed they did – and recognize them I didn’t!) And yeah, lots of other people wouldn’t recognize them either. But the sheer fact that there are thousands of media outlets worldwide compared to the Beatles’ day could be what they mean. The idea that a fan can capture a video of one of the 1D guys buying an ice cream with her iPhone, and within minutes that video can be uploaded and available to the entire world – there’s no way the Beatles could ever have competed with that kind of penetration. So they’re not necessarily wrong, if you look at it that way.
