With thanks to @HongKongLady for the idea, here is a new Beatles-related game. The idea is that you post some lyrics from a Beatles (or solo Beatles) song but with some gaps – so the idea is to fill in the gaps. Some suggestions:

  1. Include the song title so we know we have the right song and can learn a bit more about each song and its lyrics
  2. Five lines maximum so it doesn’t get too complex
  3. Leave a double underscore for each gap (like this __ )
  4. Try to complete it from memory if you know the song
  5. If you are sure you got it right (you can check after you answer – cheating is fine ha ha) – you get to go next (and don’t worry too much about the odd variation between interpretations of some words)
  6. Humorous answers are welcome, but you don’t get to go next 🙂

So, to get us going:

Another Day Paul McCartney

At The __ Where The __ Grow She Takes A __,
Drinks Another __
And __ Finds It Hard To __ __,

It’s Just Another __. Du __ __ Du Du

Oooh, nice thread, @trcanberra! I don’t know Another Day though, is it okay if I give it ONE (1) listen and then try to complete it?

Edit: Okay, I gave it a listen. He’s singing quite rapidly, but I thought I could make something out. It’s under the spoiler.

Another Day Paul McCartney

At The Office Where The Papers Grow She Takes A Break,
Drinks Another Coffee
And She Finds It Hard To Stay Awake,

It’s Just Another Day. Du DDu Du Du

I checked. I got it right!

This shouldn’t be too difficult:

Strawberry Fields Forever  – The Beatles

No one __  __ is in my __,

I mean it must be __  __  __.

__ is you __, you know, tune in, but it’s __  __;

At least, I think it’s __ too __.

Strawberry Fields Forever – The Beatles

No one I know is in my bed,

I mean it must be in my head.

Which is you asking, you know, tune in, but it’s all wrong;

At least, I think it’s much too red.

Hmm – I think I got it wrong – next attempt 🙂

Strawberry Fields Forever  – The Beatles

No one I think is in my tree,

I mean it must be high or low.

That is you can’t, you know, tune in, but it’s all right;

At least, I think it’s not too bad.

I think that’s it.

My favorite solo George song…!

Day turned black, sky ripped apart
Rained for a year ’til it dampened my heart
Cracks and leaks
The floorboards caught rot
About to go down

And this one is for you (same album)

I _ in _ with my _ _ _ [three words]
She entered right in through my _
And now although we’re miles _
I still _ her.

^ Glad I picked it @Oudis , nice song it is too!

I’ll give someone else a shot at yours first; I know it because of how crazy the lyrics are; either he was smoking something odd or was in a Walrus mood 🙂

If I told you I’d be giving you the three words of the first line. Google (or go to Wikipedia) and search “George Harrison ” “album” “1979”, check the tracks and you’ll spot it in a split second.

According to Wikipedia, he wasn’t technically smoking something odd; it was actually a psylocybin mushroom.

And since I’m up here, I’ll fill in the blanks.

I was in love with my soft-hearted Hana
She entered right in through my heart
And now although we’re miles apart
I still feel her.

Curses, someone else already did “Blow Away”!… Okay, to avoid flooding us out with George… a-hard-days-night-george-9

Nice catch, but acceptable as per the latter part of suggestion 5 🙂

As an aside, and from purely academic interest, how does one partake of “a psylocybin mushroom”?

Smoke, chew, sniff, stuff up one’s nostril, eat on toast with a Savoy Truffle ?

I know @Beatlebug , I should stay-on-topic
