So, yesterday evening I went to a charity shop and found a sealed box of 200 Beatles trivia cards (2 decks of 100). I decided to open a thread and go through it with all of you.
————————-
so, I’m gonna put down some rules first:
1. each card has 4 categories on it, category A is “A Day In The Life – people & places”, B is “the word – lyrics”, C is “tell me why – songs and albums”, and D is “Here There And Everywhere – extras”
2. put your answer in a spoiler tag
3.the first person to get the right answer for each question gets to pick a new category.
4. if 3 questions have been answered, the winner doesn’t get a choice of categories so they will choose which of the two decks to go to next and then the winner of the 4th question with pick the first category on the next card.
5. the person who won the previous question can answer if they choose but cannot win.
—————————
4 users showed interest on this in the derail thread before i made this thread, so i will pick one of them to pick both a deck (1 or 2) and one of them to pick a category. i’m gonna roll my fancy 4-sided dungeons and dragons dice…..
@50yearslate would you please pick a deck to begin with?
and @Ahhh Girl would you please pick a category?

Alright, card 1, deck 2, question A. it appears that each category is different on each card:
fab four: which Beatle’s solo album debut was the first album to be released on apple records? (so which Beatle made it, not which album)
put your answers under a spoiler tag, first person to get a correct answer gets to pick the next category on this card.
i guess i should set up a signature soon? maybe?

In the off chance what the game claims is the correct answer isn’t actually so, do we still go off what the game says is the real answer or do we go for what’s actually the real answer. Might not happen but sometimes new information comes to light that contradicts what we once thought was true and even the experts like Mark Lewisohn occasionally make mistakes so it wouldn’t surprise me if this happened once or twice during the game.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

if you have an article from beatles bible itself that says the answer on the card is incorrect then we’ll go with that, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. don’t toss in articles as proof of your posts until i say what the answer is.

you’re very correct, Ron.
the card says:
George’s Wonderwall Music in 1968. He would also be the last beatle to release a solo single on Apple in 1975 before going to his own label, Dark Horse .
Ron, since you have won, please pick B “Rubber Soul ” ,C “Please Please Me ” or D “Cover Ups”.

Hold on, we’re doing this by whoever answers first? That will probably become problematic, with timezones…
maybe, but his showed up first on my end and i don’t know a better way to do it.
edit: and it’s not whoever answers first, it’s whoever gets the right one first

True, though it does advantage people in a similar timezone to you. Though I agree I can’t think of a good alternative.

Exactly the same can be said about the Picture Game. The only rule that needs adding, in my opinion, is that the person who answers correctly and chooses the next category is excluded from answering in that round. Otherwise you could end up with one, or maybe two, people dominating.
I also don’t see the need for the spoiler. It’s not like it actually hides anything from anyone as there’s nothing to stop anyone looking at what the spoiler’s hiding.

That’s true – it’s pointless to guess the same answer as someone else before, so spoilers aren’t necessary.
May I suggest Josh that you edit your first post with any rule changes?

Actually, I like the spoilers in this game. That way it gives me time to guess the answer before I see somebody else’s answer. Maybe what we could do is say that if your guess matches someone else’s (after you’ve had time to think about it) then just thank that person who guessed it first. That way we know you go along with what they said. We could do the same thing for the two second sound clip game.

I would think any disputed info could be confirmed or denied by a resident expert like Ron Nasty.
I recall reading that the original Trivia Pursuit manufacturers deliberately added a wrong answer or two as potential evidence supporting a copyright claim, so an incorrect fact wouldn’t be unheard of.

i think i will keep the spoiler rule for the reasons Ahhh Girl said, and I think I will add the rule that the person who won the previous question can answer if they choose but cannot win.
anyways, Ron selected D coverups.
which beatle wears the emblem of the Ontario Provincial Police on the arm of his coat on the Sgt. Pepper cover?
so, whose pepper uniform has the ontario provincial police emblem on the arm?
