I’ve already said I’m in favor of getting rid of Pete. I have my reasons..
Although I was never impressed with his drumming in Decca (all I was impressed with was George in general), It’s really their portrayal of him I dislike. They put him out to be irresponsible and incapable, which is why they replaced him and etcetera. They portray Stu as quiet, interesting, and John’s close friend etc; he left the band and died a year later. Of course they wouldn’t talk poorly of Stu, but it makes me wonder.
and by “they”, I’m referring to Anthology and the like.
aside: This reminds me of one time I was telling my family about how they used to have a bassist before Paul, but they only knew about Pete Best. I was surprised they even knew about him, because I never had Beatles albums or anything available that they owned.. I had to find it all myself.

Offline Pete Best should have been booted out of this first for the simple reason he keeps building his part into being some exceptional drummer who was the greatest in Liverpool and the others were lucky to have him. His drumming was good but nothing special going by what we have available from Decca (tho i agree only George came out of it well), the first 2 bbc radio shows, and the EMI audition. He also must make a lot off the Beatles name and the interviews and appearances he makes so he gets no sympathy from me.

Pete was a fan favourite back then, he was actually responsible for the early “Beatle” sound, his drum bass. Maybe his different look booted him out. Pete may be the best but Ringo is the star. Give the guy a break, what would you do if your friend hooked up with your mum?
