Paul became a vet in 1971 when the last surviving Ram of High Park Farm was suffering from a dangerous illness. So he quickly became a farm doc and nursed the animal back to health in time for the cover shooting. Linda was glad, because if the Ram died she would have been the one to throw on the Ram costume and pose on the cover. Quote Paul: “An album called Ramwithout a Ram ain’t fab enough, period!”

They were playing ‘Find The Tea Bag’. Ringo won as George was so stoned on LSD he didn’t realise Ringo had made him coffee and spent the entire session looking in his cup.
Why was John looking at the camera whilst the other three were looking away on the cover of ‘Rubber Soul ‘? What were Paul, Ringo and George looking at?

One of the few scheduling blunders made by Brian Epstein during their heyday, the photographer they hired to shoot the album cover was unavailable, and Medusa filled in. The band was told not to look at the photographer, and so the other three looked away, while John looked directly into the lens, to avoid becoming permanently stoned. As it turned out they were all so stoned already Medusa had no effect on them.

Leftover pizza from the previous night’s dinner, which is, as everyone knows, one of the finest breakfast foods known to man, and inspired Paul to write the song “The Night Before ” about the previous night’s meal after being treated to dinner at a particularly fine pizzeria (“Treat me like you did the night before”).
What are some other songs from the album that were inspired by this phenomenon?

Help ! – Lennon needs help to eat the pizza with some dignity, because it got all squishy and plashy in the fridge over night. “When I was younger […] I never needed anybodys help in any way” – because he didn’t have follow table manners strictly as a little kid.
I Need You – Georgie was longing for those leftovers, his favourite food since biscuits. He was usually the first to wake up in the morning and quietly sang this song while had to wait for the others to get up before he could have breakfast.
It’s Only Love – Johns love letter to the pizzeria. “Why should I feel the way I do?” – he was still confused that a restaurant could induce such strong feelings in him.
Tell Me What You See – As mentioned, the pizza leftovers didn’t look that great anymore after a night in the refrigerator. So during breakfast, the Beatles had to play ‘Tell Me What You See ‘ to figure out what’s on the pizza (They couldn’t remember because they were stoned on weed).
Yesterday – Paul reminiscing about how the pizza looked and tasted better the previous night before getting scruffy overnight. This was intended to be a breakfast song from the beginning, first Scrambled Eggs, the Paul changed it to his experience with the pizza.

None of the songs were waltzes, so naturally Henry wasn’t going to dance. A pony, a road hog, and a moon dog replaced him, and John really “dug” that, especially the Pony.

C’mon, I know the thread is called “Beatles trivia – even easier”, but everybody knows how George auditioned to John for the Quarrymen on the upper deck of a Liverpool bus that night, and also that he played Within You Without You , bringing with him an orchestra of indian musicians. In fact, here’s a colourised picture of the audition, taken that night by Pete Shotton.
Lennon called the audition “impressive, although slightly exaggerated” and told Harrison that “Skiffle will do for the moment”, whereby accepting Georgie into the group.

Legendary samurai Hattori Hanzo, who forged samurai swords in his cell, made of iron he telepathically ripped from the bars in a state of battle meditation. As soon as every inmate was armed with such a sword they all staged a glorious escape with Paul singing his 2001 hit Freedom as their battle song and war cry. Japanese authorities yielded quickly and gave Paul all his pot back.

Being all for the environment Linda and Paul took offence at the use of the word ‘plastic’ and demanded it be changed to ‘100% Sustainable Recyclable Ono Band’. Negotiations broke down after John and Yoko insisted the discussions be imagined instead of actually having them. Unsurprisingly no compromise could be reached and ultimately nothing happened.

It is a line from Ringo’s 1968 unreleased ‘Yellow Submarine ‘ track, ‘Seafood Delight’;
“The hidden delight came from the Sardinian docker.
Squid, shrimp, prawns, crab, a locker.”
This was the original submission from Ringo’s trip to Sardinia after he quit the band. Upon hearing the song the rest of the band quit with Paul faking his death. This was also the song which forced John and Yoko into the world of Unreleased Music and primal therapy.
