Like Brian Wilson, Henry was terrified of air travel, particularly since 1820s-vintage airplanes were notoriously unreliable; and didn’t even have motors, instead utilizing teams of up to 26 horses to propel them. Henry’s fears were exacerbated by witnessing his equine brothers overworked in such a manner, so the decision was made that, as in Wilson’s case, he would allow the Beatles to do all the worldwide touring and performing, while he stayed home to compose and record the actual music himself.

Who did the Beatles employ as Henry’s onstage replacement?

Mr. Ed.

After his show ended in February 1966, he needed another outlet for his talents. He can be heard harmonizing from a backstage microphone during bootlegged copies of the concert in The Philippines. It was actually his idea to snub Imelda Marcos’ invitation by stating, “she’s a real drag of a nag”.

Why did it take so long for Ringo to receive his knighthood? What did the royal family have against him?

Ringo was loaned the Sword of State and the Sovereign’s Ring from the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom on good faith to wear for the cover of his solo album Ringo the 4th.

Coronation-accessories-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Prince Philip, a rabid Ringo fan, was eager to purchase the album upon its release and sent a courier to fetch it.  His Royal Highness was shocked at what he saw on the front and back covers, and blacklisted Ringo from any further honors.

maxresdefault-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Upon his retirement from public life, Prince Philip pulled out his old Ringo LPs to listen to, and had a change of heart about the ban, and today Ringo finally became Sir Richard Starkey MBE!!a-hard-days-night-ringo-15a-hard-days-night-ringo-10a-hard-days-night-ringo-7ahdn_ringo_09a-hard-days-night-ringo-15a-hard-days-night-ringo-7a-hard-days-night-ringo-10ahdn_ringo_09

What close Beatles associate also received his MBE today, and what non-Beatles endeavor was the catalyst for this honor?

Malcolm Frederick Evans, MBE – awarded posthumously for his work as a telephone engineer for the Post Office. It would have been awarded while he was alive, but though they knew his name, they didn’t know his number. mal-evans

The song ‘Within You Without You ‘ features the line, “are you one of them?”. Who are them*?

Jeff Lynne fervently believes that dark glasses are a mandatory accessory to the making of music, and absolutely requires that everyone who collaborates with him wear them, without exception.

To what question did John answer “Turned left at Greenland”?

The question ‘How does an English musician go about making it big in America?’

What measures did George take to protect his biscuits from marauding Onos?

It used to be much larger. But here is what happened. Unbeknownst to many, J & Y were freaks about the Mexican Hat Dance – they couldn’t get enough of it.

But sadly, they really sucked at it. When it came to the portion of the performance when they throw down the hat and dance around it (see the 1:35 mark of the video in the spoiler), they kept stepping on it. They kept trimming it down until it reached the size you see above.

How did George amass the funds necessary to back the filming of Monty Python’s Life of Brian?

He sold his entire rare biscuit collection and a couple of his less-used guitars. (Life of Brian obviously meant a lot to him.)

Why did George agree to do the Anthology project?

While The Beatles were at their tailor for the final alterations of their new suits, Ringo was late. Mick was briefly used as a mannequin on which Ringo’s suit could be altered. That’s the closest to be being a Beatle he could ever hope for.

Being a Blues enthusiast, George considered changing his name to mimic ones like “Muddy” Waters, “Pinetop” Perkins, “Sonny Boy” Williamson, etc… Which name was at the top of his list for consideration?

‘Arthur’ Harrison. He rejected it because it was too much like a regular name.

What moniker did he eventually settle on?

P.S.: @Zig — love the sig addition heart

Which Beatle is the eleventh avatar of Vishnu and was born through a belly button lotus?

It was George. That is why Indian music sounded so familiar to him. For the Bonus apple points: the belly button from which the lotus emerged belonged to the most inquisitive of all Hindu deities, Votshnu Vishnu.

All four Beatles were world class athletes in the sack race, which was more of an endurance sport than a race.

In the words of Mal Evans, what was Ringo’s most annoying habit?

Biting his nails.

“Hey Mal, get over here. Chop chop!”
