Apart from the obvious “Paul is Dead” ones, what crazy theories have you read….this by far is my favourite, that John and Paul secretly conspired to kill Pete Best!

That parody of a conspiracy is very well done.
Crazy theories –
John the brilliant one, the others lucky to be in the same room as him.
Paul being the only talented Beatle and the others not having a clue how to shake a tambourine without his instruction.

That was hilarious. I was done after the first paragraph. I love mafia don George Martin and the conflating of the Pete Shotton supermarket story with Pete Best. Very well done indeed.

There is an entertaining theory that all of The Beatles were replaced by new Beatles. There are forums on the Internet where people are discussing whether the fake John was shot or the real one.

There is also the theory that everyone is dead EXCEPT Paul.

Here’s another entertaining theory that The Beatles were actually Klaatu, and that John Lennon assumed the identity of Tony Sheridan.

These theories are all discussed on various message boards. I love the ones where they take different photos of The Beatles and show how their faces are different–John’s jawline is rounded here, square there, so this one is the impostor, etc.

This one says the Beatles never existed. I meant to post this a while ago, but I forgot until I saw this.

That has to be done with heavy tongue in cheek. It’s not that there are multiple John, Paul George and Ringo’s but also more than one Cynthia and Brian. Maybe we all have doppelgängers on earth, maybe all those other parallel dimensions converge here from time to time on holiday trips to freak folk out.
One area of thought over there is that the real Paul died in 1959, another is he did in 1946, another ’64. Bizarre.

This is not a theory per se, but there’s also the claim that Bernard Purdie played drums on many early Beatles tracks.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

There is a thread on his claims called ‘Bernard Purdie Played Drums On Beatles Recordings!‘ if you are interested Necko. There are a also a few posts on Purdie’s claim in the ‘Beatles Beat’ thread starting with post #5.

Posts 17-36 we’re originally a thread called “My Crazy Theory”. It paralled this thread in content so it was merged into it. AG and mmm.
I was recently thinking about the fact that in 1963 they had stuff like “love, Love Me Do , you know i love you, i’ll always be true” etc to “living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see, it’s getting hard to be someone but it all works out” 1967 – 4 YEARS! What other bands/musicians have made such a leap in 4 YEARS?
Or even closer, in 1965 there was The Word , with “say the word and you’ll be free, say the word and be like me, say the word i’m thinking of, have you heard the word is love?” and Think For Yourself , with “although your mind’s opaque, try thinking more if just for your own sake, the future still looks good, and you’ve got time to rectify all the things that you should.” And that was in 2 years! 2 YEARS!
So that got me thinking. Why was there such a great leap from songs with simple lyrics and melodies to ones more complicated? What if…they were sent here by some unknown force to save humanity? They were sent here to teach people that All You Need Is Love …crazy, huh?

A little bit crazy, yes. I have a friend who is obsessed believing that everything we have around us, everything we know is there sent by some unknown force. He believes that we’re just puppets, playing someone else’s game, and we’re handed certain weapons at certain points in life and human evolution. The Beatles might have been just another weapon like that.
I don’t believe in that. How I would explain to giant leaps, is that as the Beatles gained fame, achieved all they had wanted, they became more confident and moved on from the mainstream, popular music and went on to explore and discover new tunes, melodies, lyrics and eventually brought them to us. They didn’t care to just please the fans with songs they would definitely like, but they asked from the fans to give the music they themselves liked a chance.
