I was watching this video and I knew that the Beatles would be in the top selling artists for well into the 70s but I surprised to see that the Beatles remained in the top ten best-selling artists until 1985, 15 years after they broke up. The amount of impact that they had never fails to surprise me.

I’m currently watching The Money Pit (because where can you go wrong with a Speilberg flick that features Tom Hanks and Shelley Long? but I digress…a-hard-days-night-paul-7) and during one scene an instrumental of “Yesterday ” was playing throughout, building up to where we find Long’s character Anna waking up next to her ex-husband. But that’s not where the references end, for then Anna starts freaking out thinking she had slept with her ex after a night of drinking. He says to her “calm down you were a little looped and sang a few songs” “The Beatles?” “The entire catalog.”

I watched The Money Pit a few months ago, the first half hour I thought why am I watching this?!? It seemed to be juvenile crap but then it got better- 6.5/10.

Questions on ‘The Chase’ on two different episodes.

Which Beatle wrote ‘Something ‘?

A. Ringo, B. George, C. John

The contestant got it right but guessed, the chaser got it wrong answering John.

Which Beatle didn’t have a beard on the ‘Abbey Road ‘ cover?

A. Ringo, B. Paul, C. John

A different chaser got it wrong answering Ringo. The contestant got it correct but then said he had hoped the question was which one wasn’t wearing shoes and he thought it was John.

In keeping with the game show trend, tonight I was watching an old rerun of the ‘music trivia’* show Spicks and Specks (Aussie biblers unitea-hard-days-night-john-6) and one of the trivia questions was ‘which chord does the Beatles epic A Day In The Life end on?’

Answer is of course an E major chord.

Don’t think he can. Ringo won full copyright in 2014.

Woke up, fell out of bed, hearing “Hey Bulldog ” in my head. found my way downstairs and drank a cup. played Hey Bulldog on my iphone. Spent the rest of the day listening to the entire Beatles canon, while working in my basement office (due to Covid lockdown).

Visited the Reeperbahn (st. Pauli, Hamburg) last summer. Grotty as always. there was a metal sculpture of the fab four in Beatles Platz. Someone that looked like a young Yoko Ono was offering a Sex Schau nearby.

I was (re)watching this YouTube video the other day and, I swear, every time Paul said “I don’t know what year that happened,” I wanted to scream “1965!,” “1980!.”

For my virtual language arts class a game was posted similar to the Last Letter Game here on the forum. The instructions were to say a book or a band/music artist that started with the last letter the post before yours. She used the Beatles as an example and it immediately brightened my day. a-hard-days-night-george-9 I wonder if I can use the Beatles again in the actual game. I guess that doesn’t matter now considering that the last post ended with the letter “c”. Oh well, there are plenty of great books and bands that start with the letter “c”.

Have a great day everyone! heart

So I was watching Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie doing his weekly charity live stream and he said that next week he would do an all-Beatles set full of hopefully less-well-known songs and I AM HYPED beatlemaniacs_02_gif

So if anyone here besides me cares to tune in, he recommended you do it live (Thursday at 4pm Pacific Time which is 7pm Eastern Standard Time) because it’s very likely to be taken down for copyright reasons afterward.

I was listening to an episode of a podcast for a Social Studies assignment, and despite having nothing at all to do with music, it very briefly mentioned The Beatles.

For those curious, it was the episode “The Lady Vanishes” from the podcast Revisionist History.
