(Bear with me, this is a long one)

So, I go to the girlfriends last night, and she’s watching this film Bruno,by the guy who created the character Ali G. I’ve never seen the film before,so we start watching it,and I think I see Paul McCartney ,so I shout “Ahhhhh, there’s Paul beatlemaniacs_02_gif“. She looks at me and says “Paul who”? So I’m like ahdn_paul_01, like there’s ANOTHER Paul worthy of my scream, right?

Then the conversation goes something like this, after I decide to wind her up:

Me: “Oh, he’s a friend of mine, known him years,he plays the guitar, and he’s left handed, like me”

Gf: “Have I ever met him”?

Me: “I hope not,as I’d be really annoyed if you met him without telling me”

Gf: “Why’s that”?

Me: “He’s a pretty special guy, that’s all, means a lot to me. Hey, it’s his birthday today, how weird is that huh”?

Gf: “Yeah weird” (I can tell at this point she’s not really paying attention,so I say):

“He’s written loads of brilliant songs”

Gf: “Really”?

Me: “Yeah, you may have heard of one or two”

It then dawns on her who I mean, and she throws a cushion at me,says “You’re obsessed with the Beatles”, to which I’m like “ahdn_paul_01well,yeah, obviously” and then she says something that makes me sad inside: “Ed Sheeran is so much better”. I can’t resist,so I say casually:

“Hey speaking of Ed, there’s a film coming out, and he’s in it. I was going to get us tickets,as I know what a massive fan of Ed you are”

I’m such a good boyfriend aren’t I? ahdn_john_08_gif

what do you think she’ll say when you get to the theater and she sees what the film is? ahdn_george_06

Thanks hahaha paul-mccartney-thumb_gif

She’ll probably just roll her eyes and say “I can’t believe you tricked me. It’s always Beatles Beatles Beatles with you”,or words to that effect. I actually think I’ve been quite clever, combining our 2 interests in one go. Hopefully she watches it to the end, I’m sure she will.

One blissful moment in a busy afternoon: I was correcting the dictations from a bunch of junior high freshmen, and spotted this girl’s exercise book…(I blackened the name)

For some unknown silly reasons, I suddenly felt like crying. I plan to seek a moment to have a chat with her, like, “Do you know this name? Do you know the band he was in? The Beatles?”

Here’s a deep-dive Beatles (well Ringo solo) moment.

Two books on the list I am working on at the library

DT387.7 .A21 The autobiography of Emperor Haile Sellassie I
DT387.7 .M64 1965 Haile Selassie: the Conquering Lion.

Who knows the song I’m thinking of?

Beethoven’s ode to joy ? a Ringo solo moment from 1965 in Help !. Only it was a tiger instead of a lion…

Listening to Absolute Classic Rock at work, and they played Get Back earlier (the version where Paul sings “Get Back Loretta, your mommy’s waiting for you, wearing her high heeled shoes”) paul-mccartney-thumb_gif

^Yes, the single version. More likely to be played on radio for sure. I always hear the single version of Let It Be when they play it on the radio, which is a bit disappointing because I prefer the guitar solo on the album version. ahdn_george_06

I have a good relationship with Do You Want To Know A Secret . Firstly it’s a good song, but it’s also in line with my personality. I’m a one on one kind of guy. I prefer talking to people and dealing with them individually as opposed to being a social animal.
