As interesting as that is, it seems like an odd combination to have a movie about killing people combine with a movie that uses pacifism. Great to see that you’re back after that 1 year hiatus that happened for reasons that I am unsure of.

I went to the store and saw an issue of Time (or was it some similar one?) magazine with the lads on the front in the corner.

Star Wars has much more to it than that.

It did but in Star Wars they use violence and war whereas in Yellow Submarine they use peace and music to get what they want, polar opposites.

Star Wars shows violence and destruction as does Yellow Submarine . Yet the Jedi believe in doing everything possible to maintain peace. The reason Darth Sidious is able to defeat them is because of the way that jedi are used as weapons of war during The Clone Wars. Had they not fallen from grace into the depths of violence, the jedi order would still exist and the galaxy would not have ever been ruled by the terror of the Empire. In Episode 6, Luke stands up to Palpatine through pacifism. His willigness to withstand force lightning and not kill his father is what turns Vader back to the light and ends the empire.

While Star Wars displays scenes of violence, it is not about violence. In the end, the same methods used by the Beatles are used by the hero in Star Wars.

Agreed, although Yellow Submarine uses far less violence to get to it’s conclusion.

My Sweet Lord ‘ can be heard in the film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2’. I thought the film was awful so would advise playing the song at home and not bother going to see it.

6 sharps can be quite hard for a beginner. However, if you are an intermediate or advanced player, it should not be a problem anymore because you’re always three sharps ahead of the rest of the band so you should get used to it and it’s definitely better than 6 flats!!! Maybe they just didn’t practice? Also, if they are jazz saxophonists they might not be too good at reading sheet music and playing at sight because they often play by ear. Perhaps, you could encourage them to practice the music at home by listening to it, singing it and then try to play it by ear partly (though the sheet should still lie in front of them so that they can roughly orientate ). My (classical trained) saxophone teacher tried this approach with jazz saxophonists and they really improved!

Anyway, best of luck!

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

This is the senior band… So they’ve got no excuse you say… *cackles*

Maybe they just didn’t practice?

They were sightreading… So maybe I should take that cackle back.

I remember hearing them say they are attached to their music, so I doubt this is the case, but still… they are saxophonists!

Anyway, best of luck!

I think we’ll need it… Thanks!

Saw a couple of Beatles t-shirt wearers; I suspect that the older gent was more likely to have been a real fan than the young lady, but who knows?

More importantly, saw this fine window display in England*:

This guy was playing and singing Imagine when we walked into the square where you go to see Da Vinci’s Last Supper. After we saw the painting (which was lit much better than the last time I saw it), the guy was playing and singing Hey Jude . Wonder what songs he did while we were inside? a-hard-days-night-ringo-7 I pulled up the BB on my phone and showed it to him. He grinned.

The shower floor in our room in Milan reminded me of the cover of Paul’s New album.

As we sat down to dinner in Milan Tuesday night, Yesterday began wafting through the air.

The waiter at Hard Rock Florence played Magical Mystery Tour for me.

I saw a guy wearing an Abbey Road shirt taking a selfie in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I pointed to the Charlie Brown Abbey Road shirt I am am wearing and then pointed to his shirt.

You won’t believe this: he walked over and started singing “Is anybody going to listen to my story all about the girl who came to stay?”!!!!

He was an older man and didn’t speak much English, but he did say “Beatles best.” His son, who spoke English, said they were from Russia.
