Are there any moments when you are there that are non-Beatley?

The following people thank georgiewood for this post:

Starr Shine?

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Ron Nasty and I had a deep philosophical conversation about whether a person can have a Beatley moment while in Liverpool or if the whole town is one big Beatley moment. We decided that you can have individual Beatley moments here.

Big, important question to ponder. ahdn_george_01

I would have said the latter.  Even your deep philosophical discussions are Beatley.

Didn’t the Beatles as a band spend more time in London than Liverpool?

Life’s biggest mysteries; the meaning of life, creation vs. evolution, and whether a person can have a Beatley moment while in Liverpool or if the whole town is one big Beatley moment.

Can you have an unexpected Beatley Moment in Liverpool, or – as a Beatles fan – are all moments in Liverpool Beatley?

My contention would be that you can have unexpected Beatley moments.

This afternoon AG and I finished off seeing the parts of the Maritime & Slavery Museum at the Albert Dock we hadn’t seen. We’d already seen most of it, and just had a couple of the galleries left to see. We’d seen nothing Beatley in the Museum and didn’t expect to today.

However, we entered the gallery dealing with Customs & Excise, the Border Guards, and lots in interactivity in the exhibition, and from somewhere away from me, I hear the word Beatles. I head that way, and find a display about duty and illegal items (Lady Chatterley’s Lover).

And there is a Beatles story I didn’t know.

Among their first Gold Discs from Capitol, ten were sent back by sea, and arrived at the London Docks in mid-1964. However, they had not been officially declared, duty wasn’t paid, and they were impounded.

Things were lost track of.

Many years later, 2002, Apple realised these Gold Discs were missing, and started to try and track them down. They found they were still being held by Customs, hadn’t been destroyed or auctioned as the rules dictated for unclaimed imports.

Apple paid the duty, and donated two of the discs to Her Majesty ‘s Customs & Excise for their main museum as a thank-you for storing them for so long.

My favorite teachers were all Beatles fans.

I actually spent three months making one of them a bust of Ringo since that’s his favorite Beatle, but when I went to give him the bust he wouldn’t touch it because he doesn’t like glitter. Probably one of the most disheartening moments of my life. ):

They recently started playing classic rock music for the bells at my school, and you know what I heard playing from the speakers a few days ago as I finished up some math work?

I saw a kid wearing a Beatles shirt a couple days ago.

In high school I saw somebody wearing a Beatles shirt probably daily, but in college it is very rare.

I was in the library at my school working something, and out of the corner of my eye I saw, on shelf not too far away, a book titled John Lennon a-hard-days-night-john-3

Huh, I wonder who that guy is? a-hard-days-night-paul-7

@Beatlebug I love zits, and Pierce was one of my favorite characters.

I used to have problems with the “coming down fast but I’m miles above you” part of Helter Skelter getting stuck in my head. I would get headaches singing it to myself.
