I don’t think Paul wanted to speak negatively about either act so just said nice things, its how he generally is.
Personally i couldn’t care less about Miley Cyrus, is it any worse than what a load of other artists are doing to see records, probably not, tho it doesn’t mean its healthy or should be done. I don’t think its a good way to sustain a career in the music business as it becomes more about the gimmick than the music (tho that might not be a bad thing as Miley Cyrus cannot sing to save herself). She’ll make a few bucks, get raunchier, folks will get bored and move on. If i had kids i wouldn’t let them watch it however and i do think something has to be done about the sexualisation of artists in the the music business and of their young fans.
Her mocking of Sinead’s illness was hideous tho, especially as Sinead was trying to help her by offering decent advice. Fine, Miley can ignore it and go on down the path but don’t make a joke out of it.
As for One Direction, i’d rather listen to Yoko.

I always ignore stuff like this so I haven’t even seen Miley’s MTV performance or her Wrecking Ball video. Neither have I read about the letters Sinead wrote her. The descriptions were enough to avoid them

You could hardly miss it over here in the states because it was plastered everywhere. Even like two weeks after the scenario the media was still going on about it and by then I was tired of it. She doesn’t want to be a Disney star or your child’s idol, so her plan worked and sales have been up for her.

Offline You can get all Miley’s stuff in the UK easily enough but at the end of it all it’s down to us and what we choose to watch as well as our kids (if you have any). Some folks choose to watch to see what all the fuss is about which is about and then get on with life (which is fine), some choose to watch so they can be offended and then bitch and complain to anyone (which is very annoying), and others choose not to watch (i personally don’t care nor have any desire to see Miley mime whilst she gyrates on stage or on video).
The great story i saw was the guy who had to watch that performance of Miley’s 90 odd times before deciding it was pornographic.

Offline I watched it because I watching the VMAs anyways, which is not something I normally do. As a child of the 90s, I want to see NSync get back together. Somewhere in the middle of the show was Miley’s performance before NSync. The only thing I was thinking was “Wtf is she wearing? Why are there teddy bears? Why is she twerking on Bettlejuice (Robin Thicke)?”. I was mostly shocked at the Bettlejuice outfit. lol Other than that it really didn’t surprise me because this the VMAs.

Paul is ”trending” according to the sidebar on Yahoo NewsOne article it says he sticks up for Miley and another he has a soft spot for One Direction.
In that BBC interview today Paul says something to the effect of it being nice to see a picture of four handsome lads on the wall of the BBC and it isn’t One Direction.
If he is sticking up for Miley, we need to get him into a counseling session now. Pronto.

Offline Yesterday , a coworker said to me, “I think I have something you’ll be interested in.” She told me her father had her clear out some old video tapes, and she handed me a VHS marked “McCartney in Moscow.” I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but I imagine it was taped from Paul’s Red Square concert. It was very sweet of her.

Offline I was listening to the song “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac because the song got stuck in my head after last nights American Horror Story episode. In the dispriction box on youtube it said “off the White Album ” which is their self title album. Unlike The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac had a picture on the cover. And of course Pattie Boyd’s younger sister was married to Mick Fleetwood.

Offline It was, sky and AG! I’m doing some schoolwork so I had it on in the background. That was my first time watching it (it was the A&E airing of the concert). It was bittersweet hearing David Frost’s voice doing the intro/outros.

That’s what I meant. She’s everywhere over here too, but I simply choose not to watch or listen to anything that has to do with her.

Offline The head librarian for the state of Oklahoma and I were at the sink in the ladies room. I told her I was so excited about Paul’s new album. She blushed and smilled a wicked little grin. She sighed loudly and said, “I remember junior high…” 
Then she said she’s going to buy the cd. She’s just gone up to a whole new level in my mind. I’ll have to talk to her more in depth when I get a chance.
