…why the heck do we have Yoko smiley instead of Cynthia and Pattie ?

No particular reason, apart from Yoko’s quite a divisive figure and her smiley (more of an inscrutable) seems more useful than a Cynthia or Pattie one. I don’t want to add smileys for everyone in the Beatles story.

I don’t think they were moved; perhaps they were in the wrong place to begin with. Thanks for moving them MMM. I’ve also changed this topic title so it’s more of a generic thread about wives and girlfriends.

Oh, yeah, I didn’t mean to imply they were moved, but that some people were starting the topics under All Together Now voluntarily. One of the Yoko threads is there too.

I’ve moved the Yoko appreciation thread to ‘Yesterday and Today’. Thanks again Parlance for the heads up.

Either Yoko or Jane Asher.

Hey Jude -Man, what ?!? You find Yoko attractive…unbelievable

John thought she was attractive too so why question me? She looked great in hot pants! Plus I like some of her records.

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Yeah, you’re right but we also have Pete Best and Stuart smileys they did nothing special for Beatles like Stuart he left really soon

Let’s see, Pete was their first drummer. Like him or not, that’s pretty special. But, for kicks and giggles, I’ll give you that one.

Stu was nothing special? First bass player (admittedly not that great), named the band the Beatles (his name was Beatals, but you get the point), the first one (IIRC) with the “Beatle haircut” and he was one of the only people in John’s life that he looked up to and respected. I’d say he was pretty damned special.

I’m not picking on you, just relaying facts that may help you develop an appreciation of this key figure in Beatles lore.stuart-sutcliffe

All true. I guess you could say that Stu and Pete (especially Stu) was nothing special as far as the Beatles’ recorded legacy is concerned, though.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Just saw a pic of Ringo and Maureen which says it is February 1970, he has a ‘Magic Christian’ button on.  Her hair seems to be dyed blonde and she looks SO different from the wedding pics.

She looks the same in the “Something ” video!

Does anyone know if Cynthia, Pattie, Jane and the other now-not-going-together ex partners are still in contact with each other?

Probably not Cynthia and Pattie, as the latter was rather unkind to her in her book.

@Hey Jude !, that was a fascinating read. Thank you for posting it. It may be old news to some folks on here, but I didn’t know some of it. Brian advised Paul to not marry Jane. Wow! And I love the part that says there is a photographer Paul is rumored to be seeing.

I borrowed the book from the library, so I don’t have it on me. But I remember the Cynthia had kind words for Pattie in John, but Pattie said something to the effect of Cynthia not really fitting in with the other Beatle wives.

    Don’t worry, I’ve got 40% Yoko. Why? Because I’m not British?a-hard-days-night-john-7

100% Linda and 80% Astrid, probably because I like animals and like to take photos. 80% Cynthia and Jane, 60% Barbara (why? Because I’ve seen a Bond movie once?), 40% Olivia and 20% Maureen and Pattie. And that’s probably because I’m blonde. And which of them married a girl who is more than 10 years younger than him?a-hard-days-night-john-7

Also 0% on Heather Milles, thank God .

    But what a stupid quiz

ahdn_paul_06 It doesn’t seem to be a personality quiz since most of the questions have nothing to do with personality like the model question. Is model a personality trait?

Yeah, I think she said was a boring housewife or something. It kind of seemed like Jane was the only one Pattie was really friends with.

Maybe it’s just me, but I honestly felt like Pattie came across as a little snobby in Wonderful Tonight.

I agree. I wanted to empathize with her, particularly during the section about being married to Clapton, but she did often come across as shallow and snobbish.

Well, apparently being blonde is one too!

Yeah, I thought the same about Pattie in her book. Before reading/hearing it I thought she was a bit brighter and less judging than afterwards.
