Great collections Billy and Evangeline, but a word of advice @William Shears Campbell would be to trade in your duplicate Meet The Beatles for Sgt. Pepper .
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Those are 2 different issues of MTB, so I probably wouldn’t sell/trade in either of those. However I would buy a copy of Sgt. Pepper ‘s. Sgt. Pepper ‘s is actually on the top of my list of Beatles albums to acquire(It would be The Beatles, but I now have that one), however I have not seen a copy in the record store that is less than $50. When I do see a good one I will definitely purchase it to add to my collection.

Why would you want 2 versions of the same album, it’s not even like one is mono and the other is stereo, they’re both stereo and I doubt there’s a difference in what’s actually on the vinyl itself.
Well one is an apple issue with an apple label on the record, and the other is a capitol issue with a capitol label on the record. Anyway I’m planning on getting Sgt. Pepper , hopefully before I leave on my mission.

He should be, I know a lot of devout Christians who love The Beatles. Actually, there’s this church I’ve been to a couple of times and in one of the rooms you can see.
Since falling away from the whole Christianity thingy I’ve thought about the whole non-Christian music listening schism and I’m not sure I get why anyone would say you can’t. There is nowhere in the Bible where it says you can’t, it’s more whatever do you do it for/to the glory of God – as long as it doesn’t lead you into sin or is sinful in it’s nature. It’s therefore down to the individual, if you personally feel you shouldn’t be then you shouldn’t but no-one should be dictating what others do, or don’t do, unless it’s implicitly stated.

I’ll try to see if I can explain this a little better. So it’s not that the church opposes to listening to non church music, it’s that when I’m non my mission, I have to be 100% focused on God , so I have to leave any and all distractions behind. Then when I come back in 2 years, I can bring all of those lovely distractions back into my life.

If that’s the case, then why are they allowing you to bring classical music with you, Symphony No. 5 can be just as distracting as Day Tripper .

Yip. If you believe it’s what you ought to do then you ought to do it (lining up with the Word of God etc).
@William Shears Campbell, my reply was more in to the why or why not listen to non-Christian music in general rather than specifically to your own situation.

I took it as you were implying that the Church opposes all non church music in general, which is completely not true. It’s similar to what you described, where we just shouldn’t listen to inappropriate music, or music that will lead to sinful behavior.

Not in the slightest. What opened up my eyes was when I once went to a weekend conference where they played ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’. Some non-Christian songs are far more Christian lyrically than much so-called Christian material and to throw out such a wealth of material simply because it won’t be sung on a Sunday morning or wasn’t covered by Matt Redman is foolish.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God .” (1 Cor 10:31′). It’s all about where your heart is; you can just as easily be praising and glorifying God singing ‘Run For Your Life ‘ than ‘The Wonderful Cross’.
I tried to play ‘More Than Words’ by Extreme at a house group once. I know what the inspiration of the song is and is about but the lyrics are saying it has to be more than saying “I love you”, there has to be action as well to back it up. This was when the Church was in a mess with folk backbiting, gossiping etc. Didn’t go well.
Seriously doubt God is sitting with a list of acceptable songs and another of unacceptable..

I admire your decision @William Shears Campbell and just imagine how the music of the Beatles will sound when you listen to them after such a long time, it will be like paradise! Anyway, to go back on topic, I love your impressive collections @William Shears Campbell and @Evangeline – you have inspired me to start buying vinyl myself.
