I just saw the Fab Four about a month ago!! As other people have commented, I wasn't a fan of how they played Imagine
, but I really enjoyed the show! They did this sick thing with the lights during the buildup of A Day In The Life
... I nearly lost it!!!
Unfortunately, this is the only picture I took of myself that night, but I think it sums up my emotions overall pretty well.

There's a tribute band playing a show in this very town in June: The Caverners, I believe they're called.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I went to a Beatles tribute concert
I went and saw Rain
back in April and lemme tell you IT WAS AWESOME I went to the show with my Mother
and my brother. Originally we had bought the cheapest seats we could get in the whole theater. The seats were up on the highest balcony and the farest back BUT lucky for us the people at the theater gave us seat upgrades. We went from about as far back in the theater as you can go (I mean really really far back) to nearly the front row (Row 11). That was nice.
We got there around two hours early so I got to walk around. The venue was the Gammage Theater in Tempe, AZ. WHich is normally used for plays and orchestra concerts so it is HUGE. Apparently the capacity of the theater is around 3,000. The show was packed, barely an empty seat.
The show was awesome. I really enjoyed it. This may technically be my first concert, if not, it’s my second. (I attended a Blue Man Group performance back in 2019 but I dunno if that counts?) So my “first” experience at a real concert .
The stage layout was cool. They had several screens where they played footage and videos to go along with the music. Here's a picture I found of what the screens looked like.
I found the videos and footage amusing and I giggled a few times.
When a concert starts at that theater they always make the same announcement “No Smoking” but this time they needed to specify.”No Smoking. Anything.” Welp,There goes my plan for the night. The first songs they played were Please Please Me
and others from that era. On the Stage they put up Applause signs as if we were a live studio audience.
They played a few real 60s ads when they switched eras to A Hard Day’s Night. Because
of my crippling addiction to all things 60s I’d already seen most of the ads. They played my favorite ad of all time DIPPITY DOO!!!! I was pointing and yelling “deepodi do!!!” to my Mother
over and over again to the point where she told me to shut up. (I didn’t ) They also played an ad for medicine which was supposed to “Send you sinuses to Arizona”. We were already in Arizona, and if you’ve ever been here you know how bad the heat is. So I didn’t really understand why you’d want to send you sinuses to Arizona.
Then they moved onto A Hard Day's Night
. I started singing along around this point. During the middle of one of the songs the “John” one’s string broke mid song. They kept playing and didn’t switch guitars till they started playing Rubber Soul
songs.
When they switched over the Rubber Soul
/Revolver
era things got a little silly. They were trying to introduce the Keyboardist that was playing with them when someone shouted to the “John” one “I LOVE YOU!” and the John guy just went “I love you too” Then they counted the people onstage and when they got to the drummer someone shouted “I WANNA TAKE YOU HOME!” (Directed at the drummer) They gave us a talk about how you have to feed your drummers every few hours, and how they require extensive care or something. I was giggling the whole time.
They played some Rubber Soul
songs which were pretty cool. Then when they moved onto Revolver
they made us sing Good Day Sunshine
. Everyone was belting out the lyrics and the lady next to me was just into it and she was yelling louder than I was. They played Tomorrow Never Knows
which was pretty cool.
Then we had the Intermission. I didn’t know concerts had those. I thought that was just a thing for movies back in the day. Anyways during the intermission I started talking to the lady next to me. I asked her, “How long have you been in the fangirling business?” and she told me “Since I was five, so over sixty years”. She’s got me beat. We ended up talking and she told me about her life and her fangirling experience. She told me that at five years old she cut Paul’s picture out of a magazine and she’s been in love with him since. Found a Paulette in the wild. She also told me about how she used to draw the Beatles (She showed me a picture of one of her teenage Beatles drawings), told me about how she worked as a Radio DJ, then she became a librarian then we talked about the library and stuff. She threatened my life and told me I better volunteer at the library or else. She was a really nice lady. I told her about the forum. Maybe she’ll join us.
After the intermission the band started playing Sgt. Pepper
's songs. Everyone was singing along to Sgt Pepper
’s, With A Little Help From My Friends
, and Lucy in the Sky. Then they played Lovely Rita
and finished off with A Day In The Life
. I really liked A Day In The Life
. I was singing along and overall it was pretty cool to hear the whole theater go “Ahhhh”.
Then they moved onto the Magical Mystery Tour
. I heard the Blue Jay Way
opener and I yelled “I LOVE THIS SONG” and the Paulette’s husband told me “You love all of the songs” Well like…. He isn’t wrong Anyways they played MMT, Fool on the Hill, Penny Lane
, Strawberry Fields (Which I was hyped for), and I Am The Walrus
. It was kinda funny to hear the whole crowd go “WOO” and “Goo Goo G’joob”.
They skipped the entirety of the White Album
, not a single song from the album. Then we all stood up and sang Get Back
(The crowd went crazy during the “Tucson Arizona” line), then we sang Revolution
. They made us all scream at the start of Revolution
which was fun. We sang Come Together
and then they played the End. Show went dark for a bit then they ran back on stage and we all stomped and clapped and sang Give Peace A Chance
, and to close our show we sang Hey Jude
. During the Nahs they would be like “Only ladies sing!” and stuff like that. When they shouted “Only Gentlemen sing” the crowd went silent. We got a disappointed look and they said “Okay Ladies got back to singing”. I was shown on the screen during Hey Jude
which was kinda fun.
(By the way we stood for EVERY song after Get Back
) SO SO SORRY FOR THE LONG POST I PROMISE NOT TO DO IT AGAIN
At the show I bought some stuff. I got some pins, a hat, and socks (all of which are things I wear on a daily basis) to show off to my friends.
Here are some pics
I also got one of those little cards with the date and stuff on it in the lobby. I put it on my wall with my other fangirl stuff.
Overall I absolutely loved the show. They sounded pretty close to the Beatles. I enjoyed the footage and videos they played on the screen. I met several cool people there and yeah I enjoyed myself.

It was gonna be longer but I felt I'd rambled on too much.
And I did forget to mention they had a second string break around the Sgt Peppers/MMT part of the show.

Your description of the concert is very interesting, Oakwood. Thank you.
And in the end
