Anyone considering taking the artistic plunge and get a Beatles tattoo of some sort? I know I am!
As soon as I'm eighteen, as I'm seventeen now (and a word for you tattoo wary people; I consider myself very mature for my age, and I realize a decision such as this is big, but I think it's a huge part of expression) i'll be getting a tattoo from the Hey Jude lyrics.
"The movement you need is on your shoulder."
I'll be getting the word "movement" on the back of my shoulder, get it, get it? Haha!
I've become extremely attatched to the song over the past bit, and I've always intended to get a Beatles tattoo (numerous, actually) and I think this is the one I would love to have on me for the rest of my life.
Opinions? Suggestions? Any one else planning on going 'under the needle' so to speak?

I'm thinking some really nice handwritten script. Something legible, but classy- something I won't regret when I'm older.
I've seen some really nice cursive fonts out there in the tattoo world,
so I think that'll be the route I'm going on.

I thought that would be best too. I do like this McCartney font though -> McCartney font. It's probably too chunky for a tattoo.

It's funny you should say that, Alissa. On the DM Beatles forum (http://www.dmbeatles.com/forum.....pic=7724.0) there's a thread about Beatles tattoos. On the third page someone says she's thinking of getting "The movement you need" on her shoulder. It's a nice idea.

Hahaha, well, great minds think alike I guess! Funny, I thought I'd be the only one to think of it, ah well.
I think 'the movement you need' is a little much though, I think 'movement' is enough for me. I wonder if the Beatles have any tattoos themselves, well, Paul and Ringo for that matter.
I see Ringo has one in one of the pictures on the forum, fancy that.

If I remember correctly Ringo has a star on his arm - though it might be a comet or something similarly celestial.
Oh my. I just did a Google Image search for beatles tattoo. There's some scary stuff out there.

Too true. But there are some nice ones as well.

I'd really like to get something related to Yellow Submarine . I have so many ties to that movie, it's the thing that got me into the band in the first place. Not sure what I'd do, but I know I want to do something.

Hey, Alissa... since you asked, my suggestion is to think loooooooong and hard before getting any tattoo. What seems like a good idea at 18 may not seem too great an idea when you're 38... but I'm sure you've heard that advice from your mom!
Anyway, if you do decide to go ahead with it, the cool thing about that quote is that Paul wrote it, but John encouraged him to keep it in the song. Check out this part of the Anthology where Paul explains how he always thinks of John when he sings that line. (He starts talking about the song at 5:40, and at 6:20 or so he mentions the line.)
