As we all know that Michael Jackson bought the Beatles’ songs rights back in 1985 and Paul was quite upset about it. Today I read that Lennon/McCartney will get back the songs rights in 2018 as the songwriting act of 1976 says something about songwriting rights, which I didn’t bother to read. So my real question is that will Beatles Get back all of their songs or it’s just some scam or rumor oh and all the Beatles songs till 1970 will Get Back to Beatles in 2028, hmmm quite a long time.
<— and this me wanting to punch Jackson for cheating on Beatles (i’m not a racist but HATE michael for what he did)

Yeah its true. Here’s the August 2013 Entertainmentwise article reporting on it and an excerpt from said article reads
Under the US Copyright Act, Sir Paul will be able to claim the titles and earn royalties and licensing money in five years time. The Act means songs written prior to 1978 turn into the property of the songwriter after 56 years, meaning the 71-year-old star will regain the majority of his hits by 2026.
I don’t quite get how it works tho. Since its US copyright laws does this mean its only applicable in the US and so Paul wont own them in the UK?

Nobody would think you a racist merely for disliking Michael Jackson, whom many speculate tried to negate his own identity as a black man. And whom many dislike for other reasons. (Like for making a lot of crap music after 1987 or so.) But I wouldn’t hate him for what he did – for one thing, he’s dead. And Paul McCartney could’ve afforded to buy the publishing rights himself when he had the opportunity, he wasn’t exactly destitute then or now.

You shouldn’t be angry at the late, great Michael Jackson for only making a sound business decision to buy the rights to the Beatles’ catalogue. I suggest you let go of your anger toward him. If you feel you must do something, get a Michael Jackson poster and just… Beat it! Play this peppy music while you do it. I think you’ll feel better afterwards. feature=kp

Personally i’ve gotten the anger of Michael buying them. Paul and Yoko had their chance to buy the songs back but took so long deliberating about it someone stepped in. Sorry but thats life so tough.

I also read that Yoko didn’t agree to pay more for songs rights, if john was alive he would definitely get them back
