Arise zombie thread (this is the second time I’ve done this :O )
I didn’t really want to make a new thread to complain about something but I wonder what you guys think of Sean’s band The GOASTT. I don’t want to post their newest single here ‘Animals’ because it contains things which are against the forum’s charter. Anyhoo Google it if you want (and you’re 18+ of course , it’s on YT and it doesn’t block under 18 users which is weird). Their music is very strange (and that isn’t even the correct word to describe it). Both Charlotte (Sean’s girlfriend) and Sean appear (to me anyways) to be too “try-hard”, “oh look at us we’re new-age hippies”
Here is one of their older-songs ‘Comic Strip’:
GOASST kind of shows Sean’s weakness as a singer far more than it does in his solo albums. Charlotte has quite a nice voice and Sean’s awkward, slightly off-key vocals shine through.
I don’t really like Charlotte’s personality as stated above, she once described modelling as “schizophrenic” ahhhh what? Dressing up in clothes and having your picture taken is not schizophrenic in any way, does she even understand what schizophrenia is? She goes under the name ‘Kemp Muhl’ for modelling and was a Maybelline model a while back.
Getting side-tracked this isn’t about Charlotte or Sean themselves more about ‘their music’, so what do you lads and lassies think of The GOASTT?

Dhani, he seems the nicest to me in the interviews I’ve seen of the Beatle kids. I’ve only heard his cover of For You Blue , but from that I can tell he’s a good musician too. He looks a lot like his dad too which I find cool.

I like Dhani’s music, his personality, the fact that he looks like George isn’t a bad thing either He’s closely followed by Julian though (daww Julian seems like such a dote) if I liked Julian’s music he would be seriously competing with Dhani but I think Julian’s music has aged quite badly, sorry Julian :/Julian “made it” in the music world but he isn’t really listened to today, how many 12 year olds do you hear saying “Jaysus just listened to Valotte for the 5th time in a row, great album…”. Dhani and thenewno2 would probably be the closest to “making it” and they could have if the “Beautiful Creatures” movie hadn’t been such a “commercial flop” (I thought it was an okay-ish movie, the boys did a great job on the soundtrack). But I don’t think they’ll ever make it into the “mainstream” but Dhani prefers that anyways he wants to be “successful but not famous” and I think he’s doing a damn good job on it.
I was 13 when Valotte came out, and I bought the 7″ and played it quite a bit. So, I was close in age to your example actually. It’s still one of my favorite songs of the ’80s, and up until this year’s radical spring cleaning, I still had that 7″.
On that same note (no pun intended), it’s too early to tell if thenewno2 will stand the test of time.

On that, we agree.
As a song, Animals is okay. The video is on the level of Two Virgins cover-risque. Nothing much.

I would say Stella for me. As you can’t be as successful as she has been on the name alone. She got the job at Chloe and the partnership with Gucci on her own hard work. The name gets you a meeting, it get’s you 15 seconds press attention, it gets people to look once, twice if you are lucky but it doesn’t get you her kind of career and success. She has done it on her merits and I think she can be proud of her own achievements. She is also a mother of four, I really respect her, as a strong woman juggling kids and career – she is someone I have a lot of time for.
However I’m not a fan of Stella because she is a Beatle’s kid I am a fan of Stella for her work. Perhaps that is the ultimate compliment I can pay her, she stopped being the daughter of someone famous and became a success story in her own right, some time back.

Not sure where else to put this, but Rolling Stone has Sean’s favorite Top 10 lost psychadelic tunes.

I like Dhani because he really seems like his father’s son (and his father had it together more than most people I’ve come across in this world). The fact that George’s blood is being carried on makes me feel good. Maybe Dhani is not a successful musician, but he’s good enough to perform with some of the biggest names in rock and roll. And one of his kids might meet up with a couple older kids and start playing together….(ok, that’s a bit much to ask

Nice.

I love all of The Beatles and therefore I love all of their children as well, but if I was gonna pick a “favourite” it would have to be Jules hands down. Julian was here on Earth before The Beatles even arrived in America and had the biggest influence on their legacy amongst The Beatle Babies. He never quite gets the credit that he so does deserve, in my opinion. Both ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ‘ and ‘Hey Jude ‘ are directly the result of Julian’s affect on both John & Paul creatively and it’s hard to imagine The Beatles’ catalogue without these two classics, I’d place Jules well ahead of Murray The K in the “Fifth Beatle” talks, and even a step or two ahead of Yoko Ono, but of course that honour belongs to Sir George Martin and rightfully so…:-)

Honestly, I don’t listen to the music of any of the Beatles’ kids, so I don’t feel like it’d be very fair for me to choose.
not all the kids are music people

I don’t listen to their music (or wear their fashions – several of them are clothing designers) either, but I still found a reason to choose one.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I don’t really take much notice to the Beatles’ offspring, but I’ve heard some of Dhani’s songs and he’s a great songwriter.
The one person who I think gets a lot of unfair flak, though, is Sean. People have their own opinions, I know, but I’ve seen people hate on him just for being Yoko’s son. You can’t control who your parents are. John was shot when Sean was – what – six?
I really like his song Parachute, as well.
