I was on facebook and I noticed a post by the Beatles’ facebook page. They are gathering live footage, photos, audio, and such for a feature film on Beatlemania.

Please don't wake me, no don't shake me, leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping~.

Details are on thebeatles.com and it even has its own page The Beatles Live Project. Sounds very promising and exciting. This hopefully will result in a comprehensive overview of them live (sometimes forgotten or discarded) as well as significant live package being released (ie not 1 best live compilation cd and a 60 mins film).

The offical video for the project:

I´m quite excited about this. Maybe it´s the kind of thing that will either be great or a bit of a flop though. We´ll have to wait and see.

Very interesting-am I the only one who gets the impression that this is going to be almost as thorough as Anthology? Plus, my grandmother and one of my teachers at school saw the Beatles live, so I’ll have to ask them if they took any pictures etc at some point.

They’re asking for all material to be in my the end of the year, which seems quite a short space of time. I wonder how much new stuff they’ll gather in that time.

Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon

Paul is to be immortilised in the very last issue of the UK comic ‘The Dandy‘ fulfilling on of his lifelong ambitions.

I don´t know if anybody else has posted about this but Yoko is releasing a menswear line inspired by John. Apparently it´s going to include an LED bra and some very sexually-orientated clothing because (and I quote) John had a very hot bod.

Somehow feel like she´s using his name to make money.

Yoko exploiting Johns legacy to make a few quid. Im amazed.

Surprised she hasnt made it the Imagine clothing line where half the material is missing spouting how we should be wearing less clothes as then we would all be able to live in peace not being burdened by the latest fashions and therefore reduce the pressures on those who cannot afford.

Still could have simply shoved out another pointless reissue/greatest hits collection with the same 17 songs as all the others.

Any chance we can get Live In New York City remastered and complete?

The BBC reports that rare colour photos of the beatles during their ’64 world tour are going up for auction with the winning bid estimated to be between £10,000 – £15,000.

Oh there is a slideshow of some of the pics.

Interesting BBC Antiques Roadshow last night from Stowe House (School), where The Beatles performed 4 April 1963. Interesting segment about the gig with current headmaster based on Stowe having the full set of correspondence setting up the concert, including Epstein’s reaction when he realised he was negotiating the contract with a 17-year-old pupil! They also own some of the first serious sculptures done of The Beatles. The David Winn (?) heads the boys posed for in Paris in January 1964, including the original clay heads through to finished work.

Should imagine will be on BBC iPlayer for the next week.

Wow, those photos! It´s so great to see some in colour (god, George was attractive). Oh, and did anyone else notice that it says Dr Robert at the bottom of the pictures?

I knew about the pictures being auctioned, but wow, it’s great to be able to see some of them!

Haha it does say Dr Robert! What a funny coincidence

Great find, mmm– thanks for sharing.

When I see photos of the Beatles taken in public, I usually try and spot other members of their entourage. In the 3rd photo, I see Neil Aspinall behind and to the right of Paul. To Neil’s right, is that Derek Taylor or would this have been too early for Derek to be part of their circle?

Angie McCartney has written a book:

Macca, me and my mum’s marzipan butties – Beatles star Paul McCartney’s stepmum on life just outside the spotlight

I won’t post the whole article but here’s the bit at the end:

Angie has now written her autobiography, My Long and Winding Road, and is launching it with two nights of music and entertainment celebrating The Beatles at the Philharmonic Hall, hosted by ECHO columnist Pete Price, and featuring appearances from former Brian Epstein assistant and Beatles Fan Club Secretary Freda Kelly and The Fourmost’s Billy Hatton.

“I’m so excited to be coming back to Liverpool,” she says. “I have missed the Liverpool sense of humour so much – that and proper fish and chips. I can’t wait to be back.”

Angie’s Beatles Celebration will take place at the Philharmonic Hall on January 30 and 31. Tickets are £25, including £5 off the book, from http://www.liverpoolphil.com. My Long And Winding Road is published by ROK, priced at £14.99

From Norris Green to California

ANGIE now lives with her daughter, Ruth, and son-in-law Martin in California, where she has started her own venture, McCartney Multimedia, Inc. a creative digital agency in Los Angeles, and her own thriving online organic tea business, MrsMcCartneysTeas. com with a percentage of the profits going to the Linda McCartney Centre and their breast cancer research team in Liverpool.

Angie is also an ordained Minister of Religion, licensed to perform weddings in all 50 States of America.

She appears in a live chat with Pete Price on Radio City every Wednesday at 1am.

Another article mentions that Cynthia Lennon wrote the foreword.

The BBC reports that artists are going to try and recreate the recording of the Beatles Please Please Me album tracks recorded on the 11th February within 12 hours in the same order as the beatles did back then. It will be broadcast live on BBC radio 2 and a documentary will be broadcast of the sessions on February 15 on BBC4 called ’12 Hours to Please me’. Some folks involved in the sessions back in 1963 will also be there including Tony Barrow.

Its part of a series called The Golden Age of Radio which lasts for 2 weeks.

Questions

Since these sessions lasted for 585 minutes (9 hours 45 mins) back then where does the other 2 hours 15 mins come in?

Will some group try and record Hold Me Tight and then leave it off the album when they realise it just isnt working?

Will stories come out that another song was also tried but never be substantiated and become a long held legend (Keep Your Hand Off My Baby)?

Will there be a big jar of cough sweets sitting near?

I hope they do it on 2 track and realise how restricted the recorcing process was back then, not like nowadays where you have 256 tracks and overdub endlessly without any worries about messing it up.

Don’t forget four of the songs weren’t recorded on 11 February (two sides of two singles). There were also breaks in between sessions that day but I don’t know if that’s relevant here.

I can only presume that they arent doing the 2 singles on the album but it might leave a few listers baffled why they arent recording the title track which is also one of their most important songs or Love Me Do .

They did something similar for Pepper a few years back where artists tried to replicate the songs on the album. Didnt see it at the time and only have ever caught the section where Travis tackled Lovely Rita .

Should be an interesting listen.

Short incomplete clips of many of the Beatles promos have been uploaded to the official Beatles Youtube channel, you can also watch many incomplete beatles music videos on the official Beatles website.. Alternatively you could watch most if not all of them complete on Youtube by doing a general search.

(Why would anyone want to watch an incomplete clip when its full elsewhere?)

Hopefully this is Apple getting around to releasing them commercially and not some pointless exercise to make us raise our eyebrows and then yawn with deep boredom.

Anyone in New York this weekend? ;->

Previous unheard Beatles recording to be unveiled this weekend

A previously unreleased and never before heard Beatles recording will receive its first ever public airing during Peter Asher‘s upcoming “A Musical Memoir of the ’60s and Beyond” shows at the Iridium in New York on Jan. 20, a musician connected with Asher told Beatles Examiner Wednesday.

According to the source, the recording “has never been heard anywhere before, not on bootleg, on radio, anywhere.” The song is reportedly connected to Peter & Gordon.

More at the source.

And I’m really curious to the covers.
