* Article on a new photography book by Bill Eppridge, Six Days That Changed the World. Eppridge, btw, is the photographer I met last year at Photo LA. I spotted the book yesterday at a record store, and it’s beautiful ($30). [x-posted to the new books thread]
* I have TV alerts that I’ll post over at the new thread. Or does it make sense to x-post them here?

Do as you wish. I think that if people want to know if there’s anything on telly or radio though, they’d just check that thread. That’s what I’ll do.

I’ll x-post only if it’s part of a larger post, I won’t make one specifically for alerts.

I thought that Ringo was fabulous. Queenie Eye on the other hand fails to grow on me.I love Queenie Eye ! Just thought that they should have done Beatles there. Is this going to be like Jet , or Dance Tonight, or Hold Me Tight again? Why don’t you like anything?
It’s upbeatness is good i like that and the verses aren’t bad. Its mainly the chorus as it bugs the living daylights out of me, the lyrics being so lame, for example “i haven’t got it, it is isn’t in my pocket”. It’s a 2 year old’s song-writing. And then the so cheesy you can smell it thru your tv “O.U.T spells out – OUT!” and its raised hand/finger pointing/whatever. I get that’s based on a game he played as a kid but that line was so laughably lame in Christmas Time (Is Here Again), tho it got away with it as it was sung by Ringo is his normal doleful manner, here its just a huge turn off. And then its followed by “without a shadow of a doubt”. Just no. No! No! No! No! NO!!
The video sucks too.
I really have to strongly disagree with you. Songwriting and great or good songs is not about one thing, the cleverness of the lyrics, or the melody, or the beat, or arrangement, or performance, its about all of those things and how they blend into one completed piece of art of work.
McCartney although he has written some deep and clever lyrics, is primarily known for his sense of melody and ability to sing and play his own songs well. Lyrics can sometimes be secondary to the melody or feel of a record. To knock his lyrics on Queenie Eye is fine, but the real question is how does the melody, arrangement, lyrics, performance blend together into one piece. These aren’t just poems, they are words set to music and it’s the blend of the two along with the rhythms that count. Banal lyrics could be said about All Together Now , I Wanna Be Your Man or any number of hit records.I like the song fine. I don’t like it as much as a lot of his other stuff, and if I just want deep lyrics, I’ll probably listen to somebody else. There are plenty of writers with deep lyrics and boring melodies or rhythms. I’m interested in the whole combo, the whole package. There are other songs on the NEW album with deeper lyrics.

I just sent Oyster Black Pearl a PM to see if he can find out anything about it since he is in Liverpool.
I’ve just phoned the number on the website, which appears to be a mobile (cell) phone specifically for “reservations”. I spoke to a very pleasant and helpful chap, they are open for business and are taking bookings. He’s going to look into any broken links on the website. I suspect a lot of their business is from football fans, the house is close to both football club’s grounds.
Hope that’s helpful, folks?
PS As I’m typing, I’ve just seen a trail for the Hotel Inspector!

Couple of items from the Macca Report:
* Sean will be taping for Letterman as well:
Paul and Ringo will be returning to The Ed Sullivan Theater on February 6th to tape a show to air on February 7th.
Sean Lennon will be taping on the same day as Paul and Ringo and will be the musical guest. It is not known if the Sean Lennon “Letterman” taping will be combined with the Paul and Ringo taping or will be a completely different broadcast aired on February 6th.
* Paul didn’t attend Howard Stern‘s birthday, but he did record an audio greeting during soundcheck in Osaka, Japan.

I must say I agree with you on this one. I like the melody and all but that chorus is s**t. I completely agree with you on what you’re saying, except for the bit about the video. I like the video.
Also, something else, I really find it strange how Julian never gets invited to any of those Beatle things. He has just as much right as Sean to be there, am I right? Maybe even more so.

Should have checked the Examiner before I posted:
* Roy Kerwood, who spent a week with John and Yoko as a teen during their bed-in in Montreal, has a Kickstarter campaign to publish a coffee table book of his photographs.
* Nile Rodgers has been added to the panel of experts as part of CBS live event on the Beatles. In case you don’t know the name, he was in Chic, is a producer and guitarist, and you saw him last week taking part in the Daft Punk performance during the Grammys. The event can be viewed live or as a one-time-only stream here or here.

Why do I get the impression ASJ will be kicking herself for not being able to go to this?
