I am expecting, or should that be the less hoping, Ringo and Paul to play at least one Beatles song on the CBS 50 years anniversary show (is that being taped tonight or in a few days time) and yes with Ringo on drums no one else – so no Abe.
As for what they performed at the Grammys, plugging your latest material is par of the course for the music industry. Years ago artists would do unique material for tv shows, sadly nowadays its turn up, plug your latest release, tell folks to donate (if its a fund-raiser), and then get off.

I’m starting to give up hope, for I honestly can’t think of the last time that Ringo performed live without atleast one other drummer (many times two others!), was the ‘Rooftop’ performance in 1969 the last time? I don’t think that there’s a moment during the ‘Concert for Bangladesh’ where he’s drumming alone either. It’s ironic to me because Ringo often complains about how nobody could hear his fills at Shea Stadium, but I still can’t really acetane anything that he’s doing now because not only are there other drummers playing, but it sounds like the others are mixed at a higher volume as well. The shots of him “playing” on ‘Queenie Eye ‘ last night don’t really match up with what I’m hearing really, he was more of a live “stage prop” to me, maybe not quite to the extent that Yoko was on the ‘Live In New York City ‘ video of ‘Imagine ‘ while she sits at the keyboard, but I really couldn’t hear him last night….:-)

These are the only two examples that I can think of off hand where Ringo has performed on stage in “recent” years without the aid of another drummer, and he sounds fabulous, first, here he is in an intimate live setting with Dave Stewart, now just imagine Ringo & Paul in an “unplugged” performance of this mold, begin the video at the 24:53 mark:
And, here he is jamming on ‘Late Night with David Letterman’ back in 1989, start the video at the 9:23 mark, then listen to the audience erupt into Beatlemania:
I’m a big fan of Ringo’s playing, and I want to hear more!!!…:-)

“…They really are great to play with. They were a great band with Kurt. That’s what I experienced – just playing with a really good band, which is a very special thing. I should know.”
Yes, you do, Paul. Yes, you do.

I enjoyed the Grammys. I have confidence that the Ed Sullivan thing will make up for any lack of Beatle-ness.Yoko dancing was just…
Everyone was gettin’ down.
I also love Daft Punk so for that reason as well I really enjoyed the show! It’s great that they finally got the recognition they deserve!
I loved Yoko’s dancing
Daft Punk was great as well.
Over all great show

It turns out Julian offered to be a part of last night’s celebration, and was snubbed.

Without Julian, there’d be no ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ‘ and he inspired Paul to write his best song ever in ‘Hey Jude ‘, not only should he have been one of the first to be invited to the party but probably should be slotted in to perform as well, this is inexcusable…:-)

Hell yes. Wait , are you in Dallas?
Just a 3-hour drive away up here in Oklahoma. I love going to Dallas!
EDIT: So, are we meeting up on July 5th?
That’s a definite possibility. I wonder when/where the tickets go on sale and what they cost.

We’ll get it figured out. Guess we should move this conversation to a PM.

Not to mention Good Night . I agree, even they wanted to stick with more “current” artists, there should have been a slot for him.

He should at least have been invited to be there. Sean was there, why not Julian? I don’t understand why they always exclude him from everything.
Anyway, really looking forward to that show! Can’t wait. This is one of those things I DO get excited for.

oh, i hope i’ll be dancing like yoko when i’m 80 ^^
but a question (i’m sure it’s discussed somewhere else, but i couldn’t find it): why wasn’t paul there when ringo, olivia and yoko accepted that prize for the beatles? i read he had rehearsals somewhere else, but that he couldn’t even drop in for a photo or something? is he at odds with somebody again?
