Marie Lemay, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint said:

For generations of Canadians, the music and lyrics of John Lennon  and Yoko Ono have been a source of pleasure and inspiration. We are delighted to have crafted a coin celebrating Canada’s special connection to John and Yoko, and their lasting message of peace.

David Connor, Regional Vice-President and General Manager, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth added:

For the 50th anniversary of the Bed-in for Peace, we are honoured that the Royal Canadian Mint is paying tribute to marking a moment in our hotel and our city’s history by issuing a commemorative coin. We hope that it will help promote greater awareness about John and Yoko’s message of peace which still has strong resonance and importance today.

Limited to 9,999 coins, it will cost $99.99CAD, and will be issued 14 June.

LIVEalbums_Main_1.jpgImage Enlarger

Paul has announced the release/reissue of several what he is calling “live” albums on 12 July.

We’re getting a straightforward Wings Over America  reissue (presumably the Archive remaster), new remasters of Paul Is Love (covering ’93’s Off The Ground  tour) and, erm, the original Russian 11-track Choba B CCCP  (which didn’t include tracks like Summertime  it would have been nice to see all 22 tracks from the session released but I suppose he has to something for when it makes its first Archive Collection appearance in 2057).

Amoeba Gig is the most exciting as it the first commercial release of Paul’s full free gig at Amoeba Music in Hollywood in 2007. Four tracks were released on an EP previously, then a 12-track version was made available for free via several channels, but this is the first release of all 21 tracks:

1. Drive My Car
2. Only Mama Knows
3. Dance Tonight
4. C Moon
5. The Long And Winding Road
6. I’ll Follow The Sun
7. Calico Skies
8. That Was Me
9. Blackbird
10. Here Today
11. Back In The USSR
12. Nod Your Head
13. House Of Wax
14. I’ve Got A Feeling
15. Matchbox
16. Get Back
17. Baby Face
18. Hey Jude
19. Let It Be
20. Lady Madonna
21. I Saw Her Standing There

All will be available on CD, standard & (limited edition) coloured vinyl.

At least the pace is picking up with another couple of albums previously untouched and one completely new. Good to see ‘Wings Over America ‘ is getting a reissue as it’s been years since we saw that last but where is ‘Tripping The Live Fantastic ‘, would have nice and made more sense to cover Paul live in concert over four decades. Still, we get one more crossed off and Paul gets to release the 18 track 2-CD, 1-DVD and 3-book uber delux set with added paperclips, archive photos and limited MPL English-to-Russian dictionary sometime somewhere.

That looks like a hell of a setlist on the Amoeba gig. I agree with mmm we should get Tripping In the Live Fantastic as well to get a full span of decades. With that in mind, why not release a 21st century convert as well. Would love to hear a remastered show with his new crew. Wix has been one of the most elite keyboard players on the scene for decades. His clav work on Coming Up is just amazing. Plus Brian Ray, Rusty Anderson and Abe Laboriel Jr have an unbelievable blend. If he’s trying to get as much money as possible he should do Back In the US, or Back In The World. If you ask me he should remaster a soundboard from a previously unreleased show during the Chaos and Creation era.

@sir walter raleigh We have Good Evening New York City from 2009 as a concert CD&DVD with his current band. It costs nothing online (I think I got it for €3 including postage).

Although I would love a 2010s concert even just to hear his fantastic Letting Go:

Thanks for pointing that out ASJ. I’ve actually seen the fully thing broken into bits on youtube, should have realized that they had it for sale online.

Sound interesting, pity it’s in London at the end of September, I’m there at the start *shakes fist in anger*.

I might look into that, thanks!

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

We all got excited a few weeks back when it was announced that 12 seconds of the lost Top of the Pops Paperback Writer  performance had been found. Yesterday it was revealed they actually have 92 seconds (of which around a minute has now been shown). The footage is silent but that doesn’t matter, the boys were miming anyway:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?…..n_iPlxopsk

The above appears to have been ripped and ain’t brilliant quality, more details and 30 seconds of the footage in better quality can be found on the BBC site.

Went to London, bought Rolls-Royce. Ringo Starr came for dinner.”

The Bulla letter isn’t new, @Ahhh Girl. It’s included in The John Lennon Letters. He was a “poor clerk” from India who wrote John asking for money so he could make a trip around the world to discover the “huge treasure” needed to achieve inner peace.

I don’t want a trip around the world. I just want t a trip to the UK to see the Hornsey Road show. I’m sure that would go a long way to bringing me inner peace.

In case anyone is wondering, the UK includes Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland not just England. When Lewisohn realises such and decides to travel into any of those as well please let the rest of us know.
