Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe.  This has been true for 2016 & 2017 Sig-Badge.png but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Can we call him Sir Ringo?

From a BBC article:

Asked whether he wanted to be known as Sir Ringo, the musician, whose real name is Richard Starkey, replied: “I don’t know yet. It’s new and I don’t know how you use it properly.”

Turning to BBC reporter Colin Paterson, he added: “But I expect you to use it.”

Who am I to argue? mccartney-shrug_01_gif

413 pictures of the Beatles, 367 of which are previously unseen, are being auctioned reports the BBC.

Mike Mitchell captured the Fab Four arriving at the venues, at pre-show press conferences and on stage in Washington DC and Baltimore in 1964.

Mitchell was just 18 at the time and took the photos in natural light because he couldn’t afford a flash.

The negatives are expected to fetch more than £250,000 when they are sold by Omega Auctions on 24 March…

Mitchell photographed the band at their first ever US concert, at Washington Coliseum on 11 February 1964 – two days after their famous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

He was on hand again when they played Baltimore Civic Centre on 13 September 1964. He even got on stage to get a better vantage point.

The pictures sold for £253,200.

It was announced today that Sir Ringo has signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG that covers his songwriting contributions to The Beatles, his solo work, and future compositions.

Sir Ringo (I do like being able to say that) said in a statement:

I love making music and the song writing process — and putting new music out there to play along side the old. How great to be working with BMG who are excited to have my entire catalogue.

While BMG US president, repertoire and marketing, Zach Katz, said:

It is an understatement to say our entire team is overwhelmingly excited to welcome Ringo to the BMG family. From New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles to our offices around the world, we are all in, globally committed, and eager to show him what a multimedia music company can do, across the board, when you have the right creative tools to put your music to work.

With BMG CEO, Hartwig Masuch, adding:

Ringo Starr is a contemporary artist with an incredible history, and BMG is exceptionally proud that he has chosen us to represent his past and future songs.
