*9* (Hey – “#9 Dream”!!)
Jeff Bridges would love it. He’s a Lennon fan. He made a video in John’s 70 anniversary.
BTW Has anybody seen the original Tron? I watched yesterday and I hadn’t noticed that when Kevin Flynn
(his character) sits in his former girlfriend desk to hack the computer
of Encom, he says “Like the man says, there’s no problems, only
solutions”.
Of course the song “Only solutions” is in the movie, but to me he was quoting John!!
Wow!! Karma!! 9!!!
And to continue on topic.. I haven’t had any Beatle dreams lately….. actually no dreams at all…

Mith, I saw “Tron” back in ’82 when it was released. I was a 14 year old videogames freak. (The word “gamers” didn’t exist then, young folks!)
Cool effects, but the plot made absolutely no sense to me.
ANOTHER #9!!!

Weird. 8-track was popular? It seems like using records would be easier.
I see what you’ve done there. (With your signature.)

Sure, records were better. The major advantage of the 8-track was its portability. Unlike records, you could play ’em in your car stereo, or carry around a boombox if you wanted. Also they were impossibly simple to use: Pop it in your player and it’d start playing immediately, over and over until you got sick of it and yanked it out. Two adnantages; and a dozen-or-so DISadvantages, which led to their doom.
As for the players themselves, they don’t come any more “lol 70s” than this:

Wasn’t there an issue with 8 track cartridges having to be an equal length on both sides, otherwise listeners got a chunk of silence at the end? Maybe it was a record company preference rather than a requirement. I’m sure the extra snippets on Harry Nilsson’s Pandemonium Shadow Show and Aerial Ballet were recorded for that reason.

I don’t remember that, Joe. I always thought it was 1 continous 1-sided tape. Maybe von can shed some light on that. This was my first 8 track player.
OT: I had a dream the other night in which Ringo and I went to a hockey game. I really don’t recall ever having any other dreams featuring Beatles.

Yeah, it’s just one single spool of tape, with the 8 separate “tracks” of sound – four “programs” of two stereo channels each – spread across the width of the tape. The playback head is small enough to only play two of the tracks at once, otherwise there’d be an awful (or AWESOME!) racket. Switching between the four programs – optionally either done with the push of a button, or automatically when the tape reaches the end/beginning (of the beginninnggg…of the beginninnnggg) – would shift the playback head slightly from the outside edge of the tape, to the center, and to the other outside edge and back, therefore determining which of the four programs to currently play. The point is, it’s still just one length of tape with a fixed playing time. If an album had, say, three ten-minute songs and one eight-minute song, it’d most likely be manufactured with a ten-minute loop of tape, giving each song one of the four programs, which meant there’d be an unavoidable two minutes of silence after the eight-minute song ended. But I don’t know if I’m explaining this very well at all…

Once i had this weird dream were i was going to a Beatles Tribute concert thing i guess but it was in a park and i was searching were the event was taking place. So then i come closer and i heard the Beatles music playing but loud…like a band was playing and i actually got a glimpse of the band playing. When i looked i thought “Oh my god that’s the actual Beatles playing!!” I got all excited and began to rush but as i was getting closer to the place i get lost! Then when i finally got to the place everybody was gone and the stage was empty…although their equipment was still there. I remember looking at the ground and seeing confetti and seeing some sort of flyer that said that it was the actual Beatles that performed. My first thought when i got up was “That was so weird!”

I had a dream I was in trouble ( damsel in distress lol) And suddenly,up in the sky, the Beatles were there, flying. Then, I think it was John, picked me up and flew away. Then, I woke up . It was still an awesome dream, but it was very short. I always wonder what would’ve happened next…

I had a dream recently that I was auditioning for John and Paul, I had an electric and for some reason decided to sing Yer Blues . It was quickly realized that I didn’t quite have the bite to pull that song off, so John said to let him have a chance at it and he was a bit better than I was. Then I went over to the piano and got on top of it and was playing with my feet while I was dancing on the keys. It was odd, but I hope I passed the audition.

My dreams sometimes have George in them but always have Beatles music in them. Sometimes, I’ll wake up and in the morning when I’m getting ready, listening to music, I’ll hear the song from my dream and remember it. My favorite dream of all was when I was in the movie YS, it was so real to me and so amazing.

It’s alright PennyLane, you could have one soon. Listen to them while falling asleep or at least right before that caused mine.
