Hello. I joined about a month ago, but I was a little inactive. I’ve decided to rise up and introduce myself. I’m LifeRaider, and I’m one of the few teenagers in the world who likes The Beatles. Most people in my school hate them, and I can’t do anything to change their mind. They think that they belong in jail because they took drugs. Who DIDN’T do drugs in the 60’s? If they belonged in jail for drug use, most of the greatest bands of the 70’s and 80’s would be in jail, too. Anyway, most music is influenced greatly by The Beatles.

In short, I’m a teenage Beatle fan in a town of teenage Beatle haters. I hope I stay on this forum for a long time.a-hard-days-night-john-3

Ello LifeRaider! Nice to have you on the forum!a-hard-days-night-george-8

I, too, am a teenage UBER-Beatle fan. But at my school, everyone respects the Beatles and their music ever since I came along and taught them that the Beatles are absolutley AH-MAZING!a-hard-days-night-george-4

Anyways, how old are you? I’m 13, the youngest fan on the forum. And the reason I ask is because I have been searching for anyone below my age. I feel so kiddish on this site being the youngest…a-hard-days-night-ringo-7

Ahaha, I’m thirteen as well! What month were you born in, Sunii? You just might have competition for that title, ahaha

Welcome to the forum, LifeRaider! For some reason I read that as ElfRaider the first time… I dunno why…

I’ve tried to get people to listen to The Beatles, and most of them like them now (nowhere near as much as I do, though!). One kid absolutely HATES them, and goes on about how their music is “(another term for cat) shit”. He’s only heard Yellow Submarine , and refuses to listen to any other songs. Ah well, I still have a good conversion rate, ahaha.brian-epstein

I’d have to disagree that there are only a few teens who like The Beatles. There are several just on this forum (including me a-hard-days-night-george-8). You must live in a very conservative community if even the kids think that they should be in jail for using drugs – and as you said, who didn’t do drugs in the 60s?

Man I feel like an old girl in here LOL!!

And about teens liking the Beatles, I teach in a high school, and thanks to Rock Band The Beatles these kids listen to them and like them a lot. I teach in 4 groups with 20 students and there are at least 2 Beatle fans in each group. And my niece and nephew are in their early 20s and they love them since they’re teens.

Ah yes, I remember the teen years and showing up at my high school in my Sgt Peppers t-shirt and getting some “what the hell?” type looks. It was pretty odd because a lot of people were into Led Zeppelin, or maybe they just pretended to be into them, but you wouldn’t see too many Beatles shirts in the hallway. Hey, it was good for me though because I met one of my first girlfriends because she was wearing a Beatles shirt and I was too, so it all worked out.

I remember the main reason I would get from people as to why they didn’t like The Beatles was because ‘that’s what my dad listens to’ which I just think is one of the biggest pieces of BS that I’ve ever heard. It’s as if most of the younger generation is convinced that whatever is on the radio right now MUST BE the absolute best music ever created, or else why would it be on the radio? I consider myself lucky that my dad liked a lot of really good music and I was able to develop a “better” sense of music then most of my friends at a pretty early age. This was also the main reason why I started playing music, so I owe The Beatles a lot!

Another really lame excuse that I heard was that I was a cliche for liking them because “everybody likes The Beatles” but it’s funny because THAT”S THE POINT! It’s impossible NOT TO like The Beatles because they played and perfected every style of rock n’ roll. All I can say to you is keep listening to The Beatles because it’s healthy, its very positive music and they encourage individual thinking, and most music that comes out now does basically the opposite .

Could not have said it any better! Many think the Beatles stuff is a bit tame (especially the older stuff) and not edgy enough for the day. Put in perspective though, and comparing with other music out at the same time, we see that The Beatles were on the leading edge of the newest sounds of the day, and even led the direction that other artists followed, which lead us to where we are now. It was a fast-paced evolution (going from I Want To Hold Your Hand to Helter Skelter in about 4 years), it was a Revolution and it has withstood the test of time generation after generation, and will continue to do that. Each new album treaded newer ground and had it’s own set of “firsts” and it never ceases to amaze me the incredible amount of quality output this band put out in less than eight years, not to mention the good music by the individual Beatles after the breakup. It takes that long for many of the groups of today to get one or two albums out.

Bringing you the best and worst of The Beatles, since 2007.

My nephew loves The Beatles and is only 10! He is now my favorite nephew.

Amen, amen, and amen, brother!a-hard-days-night-john-6

You are so bloody right about the whole positive thing about the Beatles. Music today is just negative and dead grotty, I HATE IT!blue-meanie

And the whole excuse about “that’s what my dad listens to”, I have heard that too many times to count.

Oh and one last thing, I also wear Beatle shirts to school(almost everyday), but I don’t get criticized for it. As I said, mostly everyone likes(not love) the Beatles here or at least respects them. Of course, no one is obsessed with them like I am…a-hard-days-night-paul-3

He sounds absolutley awful. I don’t understand how you can’t like the Beatles.

I have had an encounter with one young fellow sort of like who you are talking about. I screamed at this kid when he saw me with my Beatles drop-t logo shirt and said, “F*CK THE BEATLES!” And I did some more stuff to him through-out the year….pranks and wedgies and “lock-ins”.a-hard-days-night-paul-2Me and my friends never let him live it down. Let’s just say he will never say the word Beatle in any sentence…I can’t stand anyone who makes fun of the Beatles.

Wow. I sometimes to get a lot of crap for liking the Beatles. Once in health I was sitting at my table and my teacher started talking about lsd and i heard snickers because I was whereing a Beatles shirt that day.  I only know of one other person in my school who likes the Beatles.  Whenever my friend comes over and a Beatles song comes on she has this discusting look on her face.  Sometimes I wish I wasn’t the only one.

How do you guys live? o.o

The kids at my school generally keep their music interests to themselves.  If they don’t like the Beatles, they wouldn’t say.  And they certainly wouldn’t say anywhere near me.

Pahh.  The only reason anyone these days dislikes them is because they don’t understand how *genius* this music was back in the day.  Everything nowadays is based off the Beatles…

I read your posts and that’s sad. I just don’t get it. Here in Mexico there’s a tradition of being a Beatle fan. I don’t know any 40-ish who didn’t like the Beatles. And the worst thing kids can say is “They are Dad’s music”. But actually, my students think I’m cool because I like them.

So, don’t feel bad for liking them. If they tell you something just ignore them and wish them the best.

September!a-hard-days-night-george-8 I wonder what month BeatleBaby was born in?

But yeah, most people I know just can’t appreciate how brilliant their music is. In a way, though, I’m kind of glad of that. They’re sort of my band, and I wouldn’t really want everyone to start liking them all of a sudden (which is kind of ironic, seeing as they’re the most popular band of all time).

Do they really think people are still going to listen to Lil Wayne in 40 years? Hell no. He’ll be forgotten in about 2 years, tops.

With luck, (and with the help of people like us, ahaha) people might even be listening to The Beatles in 100 years!

If I end up having kids, they’re going to be raised on The Beatles! If they don’t like them, I’m pretty sure there’s some good orphanages nearby… blue-meanie
