I received this email. Can anyone think of any options Liza could try?

The Tropenmuseum (National Museum of World Cultures) in Amsterdam, is organizing an exhibition about the most important social and cultural developments in the 1960’s. As a museum of world cultures we will present these developments from a global perspective, focusing on cultural exchange. One of the most famous and appealing examples of global cultural exchange in the 60’s is probably the influence of Indian music, dress and philosophy on George Harrison and The Beatles.

We are looking for objects that are related to the inspiration Harrison and the Beatles drew from eastern philosophy, arts and religion, like George Harrison ’s sitar and the Beatles’ Indian clothing. However, it seems quite difficult to locate these items. I contacted all English, Dutch and German Beatles museums and the Grammy Museum in L.A. They either do not have any relevant objects in their collection or do not respond. I aslo contact For George Fanclub, but to no avail. I have found Olivia Harrisson’s manager, but since chances are high she will not grant our request I’m looking for other options. I was hoping you and the Beatles Bible team could help me identify and locate a Beatles collector or museum that has one of the specific items we’re looking for.

I hope you are willing to take up my request. Any other recommendations are much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Best regards,

Liza Swaving
Assistant Curator

One idea might be to contact the UK Hare Krishna headquarters at Bhaktivedanta Manor (donated to them by George) with an explanation of the exhibition. While it is unlikely they would have any items (though they may), if impressed by the aim of the exhibition they may be able to help. They certainly still have contacts with the Harrison family (George’s memorial garden is located there). If able to get their interest, doors may open.

Great suggestion, @Ron Nasty . Perhaps @Inner Light would know of some organizations she could reach out to.

Liza mentioned Olivia’s manager – who oversees Ravi Shankar’s estate affairs?

The Ravi Shankar school is located in Encinitas, CA. in Southern Ca. Try contacting the following link: http://eastmeetswestmusic.com/

They might be able to help you. You can also try Ravi’s sight at http://www.ravishankar.org. Hope this helps.
