Recorded live at the Star Club in December 1962, ‘Where Have You Been All My Life’ is up there with my favourite covers. The original by Arthur Alexander is an excellent record but from the moment Ringo slams his drumstick down and the performance kicks off this is up there (every time I listen to one I listen to the other immediately afterwards). Thankfully the SC tapes have been massively cleaned up over the years thru technology and we now don’t have a crummy quality source which sounds like you’re three blocks down.

One day, a tape-op got a tape on backwards, he went to play it, and it was all "Neeeradno-undowarrroom" and it was "Wow! Sounds Indian!"

They definitely are, especially Anna (Go To Him).

Has it ever been explained why the title is Anna (Go to Him) when the lyric is go with him?

It’s such a beautiful song, and it’s a shame they never recorded it on one of their albums. It would have sounded much better if it had been recorded properly and produced by George Martin.
