Are we limited to original compositions or can we include covers? If covers are allowed, are they limited to those released on official studio albums or can we include those found on other releases?
The OP didn’t put in restrictions on the what you can list. Have fun!

2. The Abbey Road Medley – Honestly this could get number one but I feel it doesnt count enough as a single song. Still, it’s an unsurpassed achievement in pop music. It has many great moment, from the guitar lead breaks throughout, to the repitition of the You Never Give theme in Golden Slumbers to the various solos in The End and the concluding line: ‘The love you take is equal to the love you make’.A fellow Medley lover! Golden Slumbers is my favourite little snipit in all of the medley, it’s so raw. It’s one of those songs where everyone adds a different meaning to it from their own experiences. I also love the big in Carry That Weight where Paul sings “I never gave you my pillow, I only send you my invitation”
Actually think my favorite moment in the medley is in YNGMYM starting at 2:28 ish where it gets really intense and Paul goes ‘soon we’ll be away from here, step on the gas and wipe that tear away’. I can’t describe how great it is. Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight would have made a great single too. Looking back the medley would easily be my no. 1 now. IMO it goes up against Stairway To Heaven and beats Bohemian Rhapsody when it comes to long, multi faceted masterpieces like that.

Do you mean that 5 of the 10 should be dedicated to each era or that there should be two separate lists, 5 songs long?
Side Note: If I was to be pressed that the medley is too long to count as one song, then I would change it to Golden Slumbers /Carry That Weight /The End , as they fit together perfectly and for me sum up why The Beatles are the greatest band ever to walk this Earth.
That was really dramatic, I’m sorry.

I was saying that you should just do a top 5 list for each, so that it would be one top 10 list.

I dislike making top 5s. Too short. 10 is perfect I think, though for the Beatles there are about 18 or so songs that deserve to be in the list.

I consider covers as official Beatles songs, so yeah. And I’d say you could only include songs from their official studio albums plus Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters . Songs from “unofficial” releases (Anthology, Live At The BBC , ect.) can be honorable mentions if you want though. Sorry for not getting to you sooner. It’s been a while since I’ve checked this thread.
