No doubt the promo video will be deleted as soon as Apple’s lawyers finish their biscuits and tea/coffee, however, it’s currently on youtube. Possibly my favourite due to John; no doubt stoned, his miming is hysterical and watch his eyes at the beginning of the second verse when he realises he’s looking at the wrong camera. Ringo starts miming his drumming weirdly (1st verse repeat), and why is George is out on the chorus before the repeat of the bridge?
(note: Edited by mmm on 18/7/22 to correct the link to the promo video)

I’ve never though that. The only real direct similarity is the “Can’t You See” fadeout, which is great. It isn’t as though they never did another Ticket To Ride -esqe fadeout in later songs.

The drum pattern is similar to my ears.

Do you think the drum pattern is supposed to be reminiscent of train noises?

Maybe so – it sounds quite similar.
Never thought of it that way before but yeah it sounds very believable! (Ringo also does train-like drum patterns in the 1962 Cavern rehearsals of “one after 9:09”. I’ve often wondered why Ringo totally abandons the pattern and switches to a more regular beat halfway through the track…maybe to suggest that she’s no longer leaving but gone?

Yes, I’ve always thought that. The lyric doesn’t say so but I always imagined that there was a literal ticket for a train which she preferred to the metaphorical meal ticket (the singer).

For comparison, dig Ringo’s work during the bridges (and George’s steam-whistle approximations)

…OK, on certain rare occasions I’ve heard a slightly different mix of this song – specifically, the guitar leads that follow “Do right by meeee…” have a different tone, with much less reverb, and a slightly more blurry, fatter sound, even though the notes are identical.
Does anyone know anything about this, whether it’s down to a mono/stereo (or 45/LP, or Parlophone/Capitol) variation, or something else? I couldn’t find any info online, but I’ve definitely (if rarely) heard it myself – my very first exposure to the song (some weeks after Dec. 8/80) was in fact that reverb-less version; and I heard it again just weeks ago on Sirius Radio’s Beatles Channel.
Anyone?

The ’65 stereo mix was in the 2009 Mono albums box.
Ooh, that’s right, I forgot that some of those discs have stereo mixes appended…I’ve owned that box for about a decade but confess to have rarely played it; it was found at a yard sale for $10, and the “Revolver ” disc always skipped (may be a bootleg box?)

@vonbontee Similar to AHDN , I always thought the actual film soundtrack (not the album) sounded like a different mix.
Speaking of HELP!, I ran into some trivia related to the movie. What do the “Fiendish Thingy” and “Another Girl ” scenes have in common? I’ve seen the Fiendish Thingy scene 100 times over the last 50+ years and I never noticed this before.
