I wouldnt dig myself out, I’m quite happy to remain snowed in for days. If anything i’d go out, collapse and die.

Only to be rescued by Rudolph the Red-nosed Reggae Raindeer! (he said, crowbaring the topic back in). It’s a weird rendition, but for some reason I keep thinking accordion would have been just as appropriate. How loud is that kick, a real thumper.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reggae is, in my opinion, in some ways better than ‘Wonderful Christmastime ‘. The violin playing is incredible. Despite having the 7″ single the track only really hit me when I got the ‘Back To Egg’ CD where it was a bonus track and I played it endlessly.

Yes, I hadn’t heard it or certainly don’t remember so until the bonus CD track; you’ve got to hand it to Paul, he’ll try anything and the idea of a reggae version is fantastic. My theory is that if you can’t do a reggae version of a song, it’s probably not easy to cover anyway.

I haven’t listened to a new Ringo album for years. Just not interested.

To be honest I lost interest in Ringo after hearing ‘La-De-Da’ which was as embarrassing as it can get.

And before folk think i’m picking on Ringo I found Paul’s ‘New’ (I still truly detest that title; hated it at the time and its only got worse) incredibly uninspiring and unexciting. Have failed to understand any of the hype and acclaim that came upon its release.

“Oh My Love” by John is a gorgeous song. I love playing those chords on the piano. It’s so so so beautiful. 🙂

@meanmistermustard Definitely agree–it’s not hating when it’s truth. I wonder why the songwriting skills took a downhill turn….

Agreed times three! I can play George’s guitar part… if only we could team up… a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Susan Boyle can duet with Elvis. Sinatra’s no doubt been lumped in with some current warbler on an album.

Someone’s passing is not a hindrance to the music industry.

You never know; according to Zig, Steven Tyler is a corpse.

Also, there’s always that songwriting thread–I’m not afraid of bad recording equipment *cough cough I’m begging. I’m so excited because I know how to do a lot of chords now and it’s much easier and more fun to look up a song in a second on e-chords than pirate it online, print it out, and take a thousand years to sight read it.

Woo.

Indeed!

I’m crap at reading notes, and tabs are unreliable and also too much work, so I learn songs *puts on advertisement voice* through a unique, easy process which is a blend of careful listening and Googling. First I learn the chords; then I try to emulate whatever is played on the record. It isn’t exact but it sounds right enough. And also, I’m copyrighting it as soon as possible a-hard-days-night-george-10

Back on topic, I wish I’d looked up Paul’s ‘Calico Skies’ sooner–Annadog40 used it a while back during the credits of a BB story. It is really beautiful.

Definitely one of the best tracks on ‘Flaming Pie ‘.

I only just remembered there was a second disc with my Ram album and I absolutely love Oh Woman Oh Why. I don’t think Paul has ever sung higher than that.

I was finally able to listen to Happy Xmas (War Is Over) for the first time this morning. I can’t believe that I never looked it up earlier. Also, I’m not too sure if I mentioned this before, but I also really am enjoying Paperback Writer at the moment 🙂
