Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (okay, it’s an album, not a song).Wow, what an amazing album! The three opening tracks really blew my mind away. Especially Jenny Wren is so awesome -I love everything about it: the usage of a duduk (Armenian woodwind instrument), the beautiful chords, Paul’s finger picking style, the lyrics,…
Another gem is Too Much Rain in my opinion which reminded me surprisingly much of Too Many People regarding the title.
This album showed me that I should definitely delve deeper into Paul’s discography, embarrassingly enough I only know RAM, McCartney, Band On The Run , Venus And Mars , and Chaos And Creation In The Backyard so far.
The deeper you go* the higher you fly
*into Paul’s solo albums

Very true. I recommend Flaming Pie as your next venture.

^^ That was a really great suggestion @sir walter raleigh! Flaming Pie is soooo good, I actually even like it better than Chaos And Creation In The Backyard ! I love The World Tonight and Flaming Pie will probably be stuck in my head the whole evening now. What I also find really interesting is that the bass in Somedays (which has a great oboe by the way) sounds very similar to the basso continuo in the Pachelbel Canon, at times… coincidence or planned?

Flaming Pie probably his most solid and complete album since Band On The Run . It’s filled to the brim with classics and never slows down. Calico Skies is one of my favorite songs ever, but I also love Young Boy, Souvenir, Little Willow, Beautiful Night, and all other songs on the album. I too like it more than Chaos and Creation, but that album is unbelievably good as well.
It’s just proof that Paul never slows down!

McCartney’s funkadelick “Write Away” from the Press To Play era (but not on the original album. Should have been!!!). Only heard it for the first time this year.Hearing Lennon’s “Borrowed Time” for the first time today (from the posthumous Milk And Honey album).
Both are good!!!
Just recently heard Borrowed Time myself. The way John sings it is great.
“Good to be OlllldERRRR” hehe ^^
And the speaking at the end and the “dah dah dah dah dah dah” made me laugh. He obviously liked to have fun with his songs.

George’s “Dream Away”, “Life Itself”, and “Teardrops”
I’m floored by his mastery of melody-making. Beautiful. I know I had heard “Dream Away” decades ago and am now just re-discovering it. I had no idea. I’m going to have to explore more of his solo albums. My god. Where have these songs been my whole adult life?
So lovely. I can’t put it into words.

Your Mother Should Know . I think I heard it when listening through the back catalog but didn’t fully notice it. It’s so great: Paul’s vocal is so clear, and the melody is great. It reminds me a lot of one of my favourite pop artists, Mika.

BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’ve been getting really into Venus And Mars and one song that has been stuck in my mind for weeks now is Magneto and Titanium Man- Wings. I love the story that the lyrics make and songs like this make me love Linda. She adds a great touch to the vocals especially during the chorus. It is such a catchy tune and I can’t stop listening to it.

I’m not sure if it can really be called discovering, but I’ve recently started to really appreciate You Really Got A Hold On Me , which I’ve never really cared for before.

I’ve began to start liking Got To Get You Into My Life , which is cool. Solo-wise, it’s been John’s version of To Know Her Is To Love Her and Ringo’s Have You Seen My Baby (which is strange because I have the RINGO album, but I have only started liking this one more recently.)

GTGYIML is a fantastic song (not that it’s got brass or anything…).
I’ve finally started appreciating When I Get Home , which is nice.

That’s great, they are two really awesome songs! In case you don’t know it yet: the rest of the album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is also absolutely fantastic! It’s definitely worth to give the whole album a listen at some point!

Already love the album! So unique and different, hence why it’s fab! Favourites are probably B.F.T.B.O.M.K, A Day In The Life or With A Little Help From My Friends . When I was younger, I won an award for highest marks for a keyboard Exam in the northeast. You had to chooseone song under 3 minutes so (with a bit of shortening), I did W.A.L.H.F.M.F, always had a place in my heart because of that. Fab!

^ i discovered its greatness when I went to a party that I didn’t like and so left early. Apart from the lovelornity, I quite empathised with the song.
