Ringo also used the bell in the chorus of Let It Be .
My favourite moment of that song is George’s solo though

The way John ripples the single syllable of “-verse” into what sounds like 4 or 5 syllables, in Across The Universe .

The way Paul sings the word “will” in the phrase —
And love is fine for all we know
For all we know, our love will grow —
— where the note for “will” is the highest note, Paul sings it with a tonality as though it’s a stretch for him, with some effort, when we all know that can’t possibly be, given his mastery of vocal ranges; so I conclude he’s affecting that difficulty for some kind of effect, which to me works.

@vonbontee “More — bell”? Good little in-joke there. You might have to explain.

I can’t see Sea Belt’s video post, unavailable in this country, but I’m assuming it’s SNL’s popular “cowbell” comedy skit, a fanciful depiction of Blue Oyster Cult recording “Don’t Fear The Reaper”. Bongo used to be so fond of the sketch that he (she?) would frequently interrupt random threads here just to post “Needs more cowbell!” and leave. (A habit which several of us found annoying, including Joe.) Eventually an entire cowbell thread was created

I like the way Paul varies — at least once — a repeated trope that normally musicians just repeat the same way every time.
Repeated trope:
A–F#
Variance:
Hey Ju-oo-oo-oo-oo-ude…
B–D–B–A–B–F#–A

@Neely Which solo in Let It Be ?
The one on the single or the one on the album? I’ve always far preferred the one on the single.

Is it cheating to pick just the opening of “Hey Jude ” as my favorite song fragment? Just the immediate-but-soft voice opening and how the also-soft piano comes in at just the right time.

I like that opening too — immediately begin instead of any intro, and the beginning (word) is pure voice.

Of course, all “Drive My Car ” is Unbelievable, but if we talk about any part… That melody between “Baby, you can Drive My Car ” and ‘yes I am gonna be a star”, word pronunciation “peanuts” abd “Beep-beep, beep-beep, yeah!” Are incredible!

Yes, I love that interplay. Particularly when Paul goes for the high falsetto “Hooooome” and John sings his line and their voices overlap.

In “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” there are several moments that give me goosebumps, from the suddenness of the intro to the way George pauses in the middle of “notice” at 01:28-01:30.
