Yep. The right decision was made in the name change, in my opinion.

1.The Beatles 2.Sgt. Pepper 3.Abbey Road 4.Magical Mystery Tour 5.Rubber Soul 6.Revolver 7.Help! 8.Let It Be
9.A Hard Day’s Night 10.Please Please Me 11.Beatles For Sale 12.With The Beatles 13.Yellow Submarine

Back in 1969, if you put the vinyl on and didn’t look at the track list, and John started singing “Here Comes The Sun ….king” you’d possibly think he was doing a variation of the previous Harrison song. Interesting. ahdn_george_01

When they started recording it on 24 July 1969, as a medley with Mean Mr. Mustard, it was actually with the working title Here Comes The Sun -King

Is the “nothing whatever to do with George’s” part being sarcastic?

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Actually, the first time I ever heard Sun King was in an elevator, and I assumed that some soulless being had taken Here Comes The Sun and turned it into elevator music.

I was just appalled that someone would do that to Here Comes The Sun , but of course later I found out it was its own song. I didn’t like it much at first but it’s grown on me.

Trying to imagine the sound of a resequenced album with John’s song right after George’s…

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

It would be interesting to hear a fade out on Here Comes The Sun leading into the crickets of Sun King , but then again I wouldn’t want to compromise the former’s ability to stand on its own.

I do kinda see it as John’s version of Here Comes The Sun . Instead of happy optimism we have something peaceful and thoughtful, complete with some nonsense lyrics at the end. a-hard-days-night-john-6
