The original John demo YouTube video I posted a few days ago has been taken down: “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Universal Music Group.” Which is annoying, both versions should be readily available IMO.

One of my favorite reaction channels that loves the Beatles has been very oddly silent about the new song, and hasn’t reacted yet. ARGH! I know they know!
Andrew Dixon is a key channel that I follow, and he’s very positive about Now And Then .
The UK Official Charts Company has announced that Now And Then is already The Beatles’ most-streamed track ever: “racking up 3.08 million audio streams in just three days.”
“Moreover, Now And Then officially becomes The Beatles’ most-streamed music video in one week too.”

The song is rather mediocre, but I can tell it would have been much better with John singing it alone with maybe a simple piano accompaniment, bass, and drums.
Having heard John’s demo, I thought for years that the song was mediocre, or sub-par. I thought it was just too slow, with not enough going on for it lyrically or melodically to make it really interesting. However, having heard the Beatles version, I’m thinking I was wrong, it really is a good song, which makes you feel something. And the production makes it more bouncy, which helps it out a lot.
Another thing that strikes me is I get the impression Paul works on John’s material with a great air of authority, as if he has a sort of divine right to work on his material and have the final say. Which he does, really, since he was his partner and close friend. But what’s interesting is that you can feel that coming through the music, or I can anyway.

7 inch and 12 inch have arrived finally. The CD should arrive soon, maybe even today. So happy!
The CD was sold out on Amazon before I even got there. Might have helped if the announcement hadn’t been delayed for some reason. Ordered one on eBay.
I have 2 copies arrving because Ive ordered from 2 retailers. If you’d like I could ship you my second copy when it arrvies. I have not gotten any by now. One should be arriving withhin this week, the other on monday next week.
I’d be glad to help out if ebay doesnt work out for you!
That’s very nice of you. I’ve had notice now that my copy is on its way. I’ve has a couple of orders go missing lately. Ebay has given me refunds but it’s still frustrating – especially if it’s a one-of-a-kind item. Hopefully, there’ll be no problem with this.

It’s great news as otherwise it would always be knocked. Plus I think this puts them back level with Elvis on 18.
Note: Elvis has 21. There was that moment where every single he ever released were reissued one week at a time and a handful reached #1.
We just witnessed a Lennon-McCartney #1 in our lifetimes.
WILD.

I need one of you younger Forumpudlians to hold a seance at twelve o’clock round the table in the dark for me 60 years from now so I can find out.
After I find out, I’ll see Paul McCartney and ask him “Brother, can take me back?” After wandering through the sounds of Revolution #9, I’ll reach my resting place, and Ringo will sing me to sleep with Good Night .

I’m a little annoyed that the Beatles haven’t taken the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, I think that’s what is considered the “official” chart that people consider for records such as this. I know they have a #1 in digital sales. Fastest selling is good, but having legs is another. A lot of people say stuff like this doesn’t matter, but it would still be nice to see the Beatles have a #1 in the US, especially for such an historical event as their last song.
With George gone, any new Beatle works are off the table. But I wonder if we might see a few more John and Paul works in the future at all, maybe Paul working from John demos, maybe even with Ringo chipping in?
I guess we could always hope Carnival Of Light hits #1 LOL.

Question: is this song officially credited as Lennon-McCartney? Paul finished the lyrics, so it must be, right?

I wonder how the royalties get divided up from that? I’m guessing Lennon gets half, and the other half is split up among the four.
