I am convinced that “Temporary Secretary ” is the sequel to “Paperback Writer .” The Paul who made his case in the letter to “Sir or Madam” for a job as a Paperback Writer didn’t catch his break and ended up working for the Daily Mail, like the son in his book based on Lear’s novel, which took Paul years to write.  Years later, Paul finds himself in a bind when his regular secretary keeps getting sick, and he employs his letter-writing skills once again to contact Mr. Marks’ agency and make a case to them of his need for a short-term secretary to take dictation and sit upon his knee.  a-hard-days-night-paul-8a-hard-days-night-paul-8

I’ve been binging on Ringo’s solo work lately.

From R U Ready?

You can read the good and the bad book

goes with The Word

In the good and the bad books that I have read

From Ringo’s Some People

At the end of the day
Love is the only word
And there’s nothing to say
It’s the best one we’ve ever heard

goes well with The Word also

From Don’t Hang Up

Waiting for the band to come

sure sounds like

Waiting for the van to come

from I Am The Walrus

From Ringo’s Memphis in Your Mind

A cat has nine lives
But man you don’t live twice

and from John’s Crippled Inside

Well now you know that your
Cat has nine lives
Nine lives to itself
But you only got one

^Your last two entries prove what Ringo has said (with a laugh) himself. He is the master of rewriting others’ songs. In Anthology he said that every time he went in to the studio with a “new” song, the others would laugh because he had “rewritten anther standard”. a-hard-days-night-ringo-10

How about album covers that are reminiscent of one another? I guess it is just the trees and nature theme that sparked the connection in my brain.

Introducing the one and only Billy Shears

all I want to Do Is Boogaloo

then at about the 2:45 mark it is the same riff as George’s I Dig Love
