From what I’ve read, (and played), the capo (on the 3rd fret) wasn’t applied correctly and the D string buzzes (which is played as an open string on the two notes I think you’re referring to)
Then there’s also some sort of reverb or echo, or even ADT applied at the mixing stage but that’s fairly minor.

Wonderful, I might try to recreate that as I’ve always been fascinated by that sound.

Ditto. I love how these little mistakes become legendary parts of the recordings. Thanks much @The Hole Got Fixed

Same, they give so much personality to the music. I’m rarely a fan of squeaky clean, polished recordings.

About that wailing part at the end:
This is going to sound silly, but for years and years I always thought that sounded like a drugged out person urinating, and kind of expressing his relief – ahhhhhhh, that sort of thing.
And I swear to you, years later I read somewhere that it was actually a recording of Paul urinating in the bathroom, or of George imitating Paul in the bathroom, or something like that. I can’t remember where I heard this, but I know I did because it surprised me so much since I had thought that for decades. Anyone else hear this, or know of a source for it?

I’ve not heard that – All I know is that the rattling is both snare drum and wine bottle on top of organ…
And the wailing I presume is just them adding to the ethereal mood
But if anyone has a source for that it’d be pretty weird and cool if that’s true… I think?

I’ve been searching the web for that story, and I can find no reference to it. Unless someone can confirm it, I’m going to have to conclude that I dreamed it.
I had another memory of seeing a video of John and Paul singing Cry Baby Cry on The Today Show, or something similar. I thought it was real, but after much research, I guess it doesn’t exist. It must have been a dream. John and Paul were sitting next to each other with acoustic guitars, each guitar facing in the opposite direction since John is right handed and Paul is left handed. It was a very vivid dream. Strange too, because I don’t usually have false memories, except when it comes to the Beatles apparently.
