I always love the “mashed together” songs. I think it was also a pretty significant song. For me, they just constantly surprise. Aside from Revolution 9 this being one of their longest songs with minimal lyrics, it gives them room to experiment, which they always do best. Using the Moog Synthesizer and having such a dramatic end with the immediate silence for the last track of side one, leaves the listener (or maybe just me) in a pleasantly disappointed state (wanting more). That’s just my opinion though. Welcome to the group! I’m new too, you should check out the introduction thread: https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..d/page-30/

Theme song to the end of the world. I love it. And the fact that it is follwed by Here Comes The Sun , the change from the heavy ending to the light guitar picking is awesome.

Sometimes I wish it was a tad shorter, but that’s only because I want Here Comes The Sun to get here faster. Great guitars.

I wish it faded smoothly into Here Comes The Sun , but other than that, it is great. I love the mesmerising guitars.

I enjoy the song, the ending is something you wouldn't really hear in any other song. The 3rd verse/guitar solo for some reason sounds like it belongs in a 007 movie.
Something I noticed about it recently while listening to the rock band tracks and seperated 5.1 channels from the love version, I heard at least 3 possible solos that were recorded but never used. In the love version, there is a distorted guitar and hammond organ solo that i've never heard before, and if you listen closely to the rock band drum track there is a jazzier guitar solo underneith that. Makes me wonder how many different attempts at the ending they tried.
Does Joe or anyone know anything about these?

I love it. That song makes me dance. Actually because of this stupid song I want to get go-go black leather boots just to wear them while dancing it. My nephews looove the song. When I ask one of them why he replied. “I dunno. It has a “a la ch*ng*da” ending”. (that's like f*ck it)
And I was like “A.. what?” . My nephew said “Yeah it was like John were saying “I don't know how to end it. Meh. A la ch*ng*da”.

To the people who wish it would fade smoothly into “Here Comes The Sun :”
You do realize that “I Want You (She's So Heavy)” is the end of Side One, right?
The only thing I really like about this song is the guitar “solo.” Not the end, but during the verse.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Where is the Solo? I haven't listened in a while and the only Solo-esque thing I can think of is the mass finale

This is my personal favorite Beatles song. I think its their best song as well. The repitition just makes it a outpouring of obssession and lust, which is just genius. The ending is also brilliance at its finest. The way the riff pulls you in and makes you get lost in its hypnotizing repitition, was a great move by John. A great ending to a great song.

Meh, I think it wouldn't work as well with a shorter ending. The relief from it ending after four minutes of hearing the same thing over and over is far greater than the relief from hearing only one minute of the same thing over and over. It's sort of like the Banana Knock-Knock joke. (Knock knock. Who's there. Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock, etc. Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn't say banana?) If I only start over with the same joke a few times, it's not as funny as it would be if I continued saying “banana” twenty times.
