I know they recorded over certain takes of songs like for example with Long, Long, Long they wiped the early takes with later ones to save using a new reel. Others went “missing” over the years.
If the WMGGW were wiped it will be in the Lifting Latches book so if no one else does i’ll have a look in the morning and get back to you.

Offline I had read somewhere (source forgotten, silly me) that George had recorded quite a few guitar solos at first, including a possible backwards solo. I don’t have high hopes that *that* specific recording exists, but it makes me wonder if a few did manage to survive.

Offline According to John C Winn in Lifting Latches George took away two reels of “odd takes” but left behind Take 1 (a looped ending is on Anthology 3 , and Take 1 unlooped and monitor mixes have been booted as well).
All the other takes remain in the vaults.
Take 40 has been booted but don’t get too excited. Winn writes ” Take 40 actually consisted of Paul at the organ playing and singing his own “Lady Madonna ” as well as George’s number [note: one verse]. It was copied onto one of the “White Album ad-lib” reels and eventually bootlegged from that source.”
Can’t find the complete thing online but this is the Lady Madonna section

Offline Can’t you still get a pdf copy online?
A search online finds you can. Scroll down to the bottom of here and there is a part where you can click on “buy now” and get a copy for $20. Seems to still be working. I got mine from there and then printed it out so its not stuck on a computer. Took about 7 hours in getting a reply with the pdf and password.
