What Beatles songs do you consider “fillers”?

There are the obvious ones, like Dig It and Maggie Mae , but are there any others?

Also known as Egg-Rock, Egg-Roll, E-George, Eggy, Ravioli, Eggroll Eggrolli...

Second place goes to “Her Majesty “.

It’s Only Love . A beautiful song, but its short length and wilfully atrocious lyrics are enough to put it in the “filler” category for me; it seems that John wrote it for the very purpose of plugging some unused album space. Also Flying , again a lovely little piece but only really exists to pass the minutes pleasantly.

When I Get Home and Any Time At All would be two, written expressly to fill the AHDN LP. Great songs but filler.

As much as I love George, You Like Me Too Much is a filler. The song just sounds incomplete to me. Little Child is also a filler and the low point of With the Beatles. The song is ok, but not as good as the 13 others on the album.

You Like Me Too Much is one of those typical songs of which I always forget it’s existence.

My picks would be:  Chains , Little Child , A Taste Of Honey , Not A Second Time , Mr. Moonlight, Run For Your Life and Wait .  There are obviously more…but those are the ones that come to mind.

Hold Me Tight surely, I can only imagine that it got on for another Paul vocal as the song sucks like no other, cant bear to think what the rejected takes sounded like if thats the best they could do.

Wait and Wild Honey Pie definately.

To be honest I’ve never really understood the hate for Hold Me Tight . I mean, it’s hardly the greatest song ever and obviously knocked off in a flash, but it’s catchy and energetic enough that I wouldn’t rate it much lower than many of their non-standout album tracks of the period. What don’t you like about it?

I have to agree.  It’s not a FAB song or anything…but it’s catchy and I always find myself rocking to it! a-hard-days-night-george-10

I think Good Day Sunshine is filler. That’s just me, though.

Ah yes, one person’s filler is another one’s fave. What else is new here!?

As usual, I will stand up for “Hold Me Tight ,” “Wait ,” “Good Day Sunshine ,” the “granny shit” – and pre-emptively, “Dizzy Miss Lizzy

Wait “?  Really?  That’s one of my favourites on that album!

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Wait , Any Time At All , Dizzy Miss Lizzy etc are filler but not a bad songs. I really like all 3 and filler doesnt mean its not good, far from it.

Why do i detest Hold Me Tight ? It would take me time to go thru all the reasons and condering ive done it in numerous threads on here i dont want people to read it again. I will if you want to know ITSWD. However my dislike of it doesnt stop it being filler. It was a reject brought back because Paul needed a vocal and offered nothing else or nothing else was acceptable.

Truth..

“Yes it Is” – this one always came across as a bit insincere on John’s part- though he and Paul both admitted to enjoying therefore keeping songs just because of the chords they used. which for “Yes It Is ” seems true, it certainly has lovely structure. but John really being upset over some girl wearing red? seems funny

A Taste Of Honey “- I listen to this track at Chipmunk speed because that way I find it more entertaining to hear Paul legitimately singing about returning for the honey than in real time.

But even George would agree I think, a-hard-days-night-george-10 that “Only A Northern Song ” simply must win first prize for best “filler” piece ever

Yes It Is was the B-Side to Ticket To Ride , apparently it was a failed attempt to make a second “This Boy “.  The chords used are simply amazing and nothing like the early Beatles. And the woman in red was John’s mum, she wore scarlet when the accident happened.

Half of the B-side of Help ! is made of songs that I consider fillers.

And I agree about Good Day Sunshine : Revolver is my favourite album, but if there’s a filler, than it’s this track (though it’s quite good compared to others)
