I’ve heard many rumors in the past year saying that The Beatles covered The Who’s “Underture” (masterpiece), but never recorded it. Does anyone know of this? Does someone have the recording (if there is one)?

If they never recorded, how did they cover it? They may have played it during a rehearsal jam, if so, it was probably of poor quality.

I find this very hard to believe. Just because it’s an instrumental, and Pete Townshend’s guitar style is so different from the Beatles. I could see them maybe playing a snatch of it. But I don’t recall ever hearing any of them talking about the Tommy album either.
