That video has been posted here and on another site before by me and it is definitely a fake. One of the better forgeries but still a forgery.
Joe disabled the function of uploading music to the forum and thru PMs due to the threat of lawsuits if the copyright holder(s) found out. Bootlegs are great and i’m all in favour of them and sharing them about but it is technically illegal to share the majority of the material.

Oh ok. Sorry for any trouble I caused. I did not realize that you could not do that. If it’s a fake, it’s a very, very good one. I still find it hard to believe that it is fake because it so accurately matches the description of the song. But I suppose that if it can be done with artwork, it can be done with music as well. I’m kinda disappointed now that I know it is fake. Well it’s not the first time I’ve over-hyped something.

You didn’t cause any problems at all Dr W.
You can post any video you like (well, within reason – same as with most forums). The problem with the uploading of music files (not posting videos from youtube or such places, sharing links to other sites (not direct download links) etc) is that it was discovered that other folk could then download that same file so it becomes file sharing and that is where the problems arise with lawyers etc. You can’t directly download a youtube video.
Better to air on the side of caution than risk Joe getting a letter from Apple demanding all rights to this site, his house, car, family, savings, music collection and memories.
The CoL video you posted, well i also thought it might be genuine at the time otherwise i wouldn’t have posted it either. As i said its one of the better forgeries out there, some of the others include parts of Revolution #9.

Lol, I would never want that to happen to Joe, because I am so grateful to him for creating this wonderful site! But now I know to be more cautious and I am thankful for that meanmistermustard.

Well I like Revolution 9 so I’d probably like Carnival Of Light . I’m that kind of guy.

If anyone wants music from youtube (Legally) all you have to do is copy & paste the youtube link, and put it in here: http://www.youtube-mp3.org, then hit the Convert Video button, then on the next screen hit Download and you will have an mp3 music file saved.
It’s that simple, and no worries of getting viruses from Torrents.

I moved a few posts from the “Rarities, compilations and live albums” thread into this one, as they were about Carnival Of Light (and YouTube too, but they were hard to untangle). Hope that’s OK with people.

Just an FYI, it’s not actually legal, and record companies have been cracking down on YouTube downloader software. So enjoy while you can. :->

Paul was asked about ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ during the Jimmy Kimmel Show while launching ‘NEW’ last year, and doesn’t seem all that keen on releasing it himself. Go to the 3:20 mark of this video to hear his remarks:
Seems that George Harrison perhaps changed Paul’s mind about this one…:-)
This video reminds me of an interview/news article I read a few years back. In it, Paul said that he was talking to a middle-aged female fan and she brought it up. She said that she’d really like to hear it. He said “No, you really wouldn’t.” I wish I could find the interview, but I had no luck searching because I only vaguely remember it.
Anyway, as far as “George Harrison changed Paul’s mind,” I don’t exactly get the impression that Paul dislikes it now, as I’ve heard him speak rather positively about it in the past (not in person, obviously). I think he just means that the general public (i.e. the type of Beatles fans that skip past Revolution 9 ) would really not enjoy it and I tend to agree. I’d like to hear it, but I think that most people would regard it as a piece of garbage.

Gahh, most people (or at least many Beatles fans) (not me) regard “Revolution 9 ” (and/or “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer “) as a piece of garbage and I don’t see Paul trying to suppress THAT one!
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Considering Paul has often stated how he was playing around with sound collages, tape loops and all that avant garde stuff before John, who is most associated with it, its more likely he would want people to know Carnival Of Light as it was his initial idea really. And its not like Paul to leak anything Beatley. The other question is would Yoko want it released if it showed Paul to be ahead of John in that department? There is still a little ongoing battle between Yoko and Paul.
I’ve never got the impression that John “is most associated” with tape loops for George Martin, among others, have confirmed Paul’s story about being the first to discover how to create this peculiar sound on his home tape machine. It would be most interesting if someone were to ask Yoko Ono (perhaps it’s on her “do not ask” list for interviews?) if she’s indeed heard it and what she thinks of it. I’m not so sure about her wanting to block this one “if it showed Paul to be ahead of John in that department”, I would think that she’d be more inclined to release it to show that John genuinely was into what they were up to in 1968-69 when public opinion was that she was leading John far astray from his creative pathway.
It’s most puzzling all around, for although he has made no bones about expressing his disdain for this kinda music in the past, Yoko claims that George was in fact the one who’d proclaimed “let’s do this” when John first discussed the concept of creating the sound picture that turned out to be ‘Revolution #9′, not to mention his own “clue” called ‘Electronic Sound ‘. The only conclusion that I can come up with, based on the opinions of the few who’ve actually heard it, is that this track probably sounds so bad that George simply didn’t want to be associated with it at all. The bits that those who’ve heard it comment on the most negatively are the screaming by Paul & John which would probably make most of us feel uncomfortable in the same way that we do upon listening to ‘Don’t Worry Kyoko (Mummy’s Only Looking For Her Hand In The Snow)’, and we should probably be most grateful for George’s objections.
I’m usually always for the preserving of songs to reflect the closest thing to their original intention, but this is one where I’d make an exception. The best way to release ‘Carnival Of Light ‘, in my opinion, is to make it available in a format where people can make their own mixes from the separate tracks. There’s probably many very interesting sounds there to play with, and it could ignite a whole new wave of people interested in experimenting in stretching the boundaries of sonic applications, goodness knows that music nowadays could use an infusion of new innovations to prevent the scene from further eroding into the realm of the mundane as it has for some time now. Some of the fakes produced over the years are very interesting and surprisingly refreshing to listen to, imagine the possibilities if we had the ability to create our very own ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ from The Beatles’ masters, that I could get into…:-)

Well, that’s been the problem for ages. What’s copyright infringment and what’s not. They’re very selfish about these because they don’t see it as music. They see it as money. If you get your hands on Youtube or bootlegs, you don’t need to buy the record and they lose their money. Apple Core is the biggest at this, because the Beatles are one of the best selling artists of all time. All You Need is Cash-that’s their thought.
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

I really do hope I get to hear Carnival Of Light in my lifetime. I know some people don’t like the whole “sound collage” idea, but I find it all very interesting to listen to. I’d love it if it was released or the real version is leaked, like with Revolution 1 Take 20.

So am I for that exact same reason. The main reason why they say that is because they don’t like the idea of sound collage-which I do understand, of course. But I do like to hear it for hearing it (as a Beatles fan)
