I’m sure everyone here has Beatles songs like that, ones that when they come on, you have to blast it!

For me:

To name a few. a-hard-days-night-john-6

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Paperback Writer , Rain , Revolution and Hey Bulldog are the first four to pop into my head.

Good feeling.  I like the ‘impulsive’ nature of the topic.

E is for 'Ergent'.

Oh of course, I forgot about Revolution !

I was rocking out to “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window ” (my all time favourite Beatles song) when I thought to post it.  a-hard-days-night-john-1

Ooo… I’ll need to think about this properly, but what about the covers! Severely lacking so far! Ones that need to go up to 11!: Twist And Shout ; Long Tall Sally ; Rock And Roll Music ; Kansas City /Hey!-Hey!-Hey!-Hey!; Boys . And that’s not even thinking about BBC tracks like Soldier of Love or Clarabella.

Hey Bulldog , I Am The Walrus , Back In The USSR (do the first songs on a tracklist count? Also Taxman )

…then I would say Paperback Writer ; Tomorrow Never Knows ; She Said She Said . I’m sure there are more.

The first one that comes to mind is Yer Blues . It’s just not the same if you listen to it with the volume down low.

Also, Twist And Shout , Helter Skelter , Taxman , She Came In…., I Want You and Tommorow Never Knows.

EDIT: I forgot Why Don’t We Do It In The Road.

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

I just do not get how Twist And Shout doesn’t appear on every one of these lists!

Back In The USSR is thr first one that comes to mind, because of the swing, Paul’s screaming and the areoplane noise!

I Saw Her Standing There

Twist And Shout (How can one NOT?)

It Won’t Be Long

I Wanna Be Your Man

Please Mr.Postman for sure!

I’m Happy Just To Dance With You (love the bass in the beginning)

She’s A Woman (again, that dang bass)

You’re Gonna Lose That Girl

Think For Yourself

Got To Get You Into My Life

Sgt. Pepper ‘s (the title song)

Back In The USSR

Everybody’s Got Something To Hide

Yer Blues

and most definitely Helter Skelter

Nothing really on Abbey Road . I just like to sit back and relax listening to the sheer beauty of it all.

A Day In The Life

Lucy In The Sky

I Feel Fine

Tomorrow Never Knows

Day Tripper

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Long, Long, Long – the crashing drums

Cry Baby Cry  – the crashing drums

Within You, Without You – the instrumental dual between the Western and Indian musicians is one of the greatest, most impressive passages of music i’ve ever heard, could listen to something like that for ages and just sit blown away every time. There is so much going on. That there are people out there who think Pepper would be superior without WYWY completely mystifies me. How can you come to that opinion?

Im of the opposite view to nowhereland on Abbey Road , i play the entire album loud. I find a deep beauty in hearing the album flow that way right from John’s “shoot me” (that reads badlya-hard-days-night-paul-10)and there is a perverse pleasure in scaring the wits off folk who arent expecting Her Majesty to come crashing in. a-hard-days-night-john-6
