There is this one Christmas song I heard that reminded me so much of Oh! Darling. But I sadly don't know the name. It was some guy singing about how he wanted his girl to be home for Christmas.

That's the one! I'm surprised I didn't realize that it was Bon Jovi. Oh well.

I think it's a modern song, but not one that Bon Jovi wrote. Wikipedia says it was recorded in 1960 by a blues artist named Charles Brown. Actually, if you look it up, you'll see a number of people have covered it. I'm sure you'll find one you like. 🙂

That's what I was thinking, too! a-hard-days-night-george-9

A Christmas song by Charles Brown. Nothing about a scraggly looking tree in there, though! But if anyone knows about the blues, it's gotta be Charlie Brown!

She Said She Said and And Your Bird Can Sing have always felt like the same song to me, but that's probably because they are so close together on the album.

If you listen closely to the electric version, I think there's someone playing a kazoo that got buried in the mix.

In all seriousness, I think bits of I Want You sound similar to Because.

Definitely. They are very similar arpeggio chord patterns

On 1, I think the songs from From Me To You to Eight Days A Week sound fairly similar.

It's Only Love and I Need You sound similar to me.

Also, in You Never Give Me Your Money, McCartney's vocal on "out of college, money spent" reminds me of Lady Madonna.

And I neeeeeeeeed her all the time

This monday I was on the bus, listening to (John's) "Rock'n'Roll" album again, trying to forget I must go to work, and I remember that the motive of "Come Together" is very similar to the first verses of "you can't catch me".

I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

Personally I sometimes get confused with which song's which on Rubber Soul. Think For Yourself, The Word, Wait... They all sort of blend for me.

I don't know, that was the first thing that came to mind anyway. a-hard-days-night-george-8

I always felt that the guitar in 'Twisted Logic' by Coldplay sounded very similar to 'I Want You (She's so Heavy'

And the piano at the beginning of Oasis's 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is close to 'Imagine'. Too close for comfort, if you ask me.

Plus there's one bit towards the end of 'All You Need Is Love' that sounds a lot like 'She Loves You'...

Oh, there could be a separate thread entirely on all the Beatles references that Oasis had in their songs and videos. 🙂

I always found the "uuuu/aaaa-lalalas" in "You won't see me" and "Nowhere Man" too similar to like them both. One of the very few repetitiv moments in the Beatles' catalogue, imo.

Yeah, I've heard people complain about that on occasion. It wouldn't be nearly so apparent if the songs weren't consecutive.

Similarly, if "Because" and "She's So Heavy" appeared back-to-back on Abbey Road, more people would notice how they begin with an identical 8-note sequence (and probably complain about it.)

One day, a tape-op got a tape on backwards, he went to play it, and it was all "Neeeradno-undowarrroom" and it was "Wow! Sounds Indian!"

What happened to the formatting on my previous post? It's like CranberrySauce got quoted twice.

I think No Words from Band On The Run has a Nowhere Man feel to it.

Hello Goodbye, Rocky Raccoon and Your Mother Should Know all feature the same chord progression of 'C, C/B, A(m)(7)' at some point in those songs, it's become a bit of a McCartney signature. Anyone know any other Beatles/Macca songs with this chord sequence?

You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

Isn't that used for the arpeggio sequence at the end of You Never Give Me Your Money?

that progression (in various keys) - is used in millions of pop songs.

Although, yes, Paul seemed very fond of it - it's older than he is - it's older than dirt. I believe God was whistling that progression when he hung the stars.

"She looks more like him than I do."
