Based on this definition, which Beatles songs do you think seem most out of place on the album/single on which they were released? For example, you could mention pre 1966 or post 1967 songs that sound psychedelic to you.
anachronistic

Technically speaking, any of Paul's Vaudeville-type songs would fit the description regardless of the album on which it appears. 'Honey Pie ', 'When I'm Sixty-Four ', etc...
If one is allowed some leeway, I'd say 'Yellow Submarine ' sounds out of place on Revolver . Still love the song, though!

I'd go with Across The Universe on its 1970 release, given how psychedelic it is.

Expanding on this... I'd say 'Within You, Without You'... Traditional Indian Music had been played that way for centuries... the "Vaudeville" 'When I'm Sixty-Four ' is very much up to date with 'Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band' by comparison...:-)

Old thread, but a few more ideas I had include:
Oh Darling on Abbey Road . Seems way more like a 50s rock pastiche than the classic rock sound they were doing on that album.
I Will on the White Album . I suppose you could say this about a lot of the songs, but this one truly wouldn't have sounded out of place on Beatles For Sale .
What Goes On on Rubber Soul . I have a bias against this one as it's my least favourite song of theirs by a long way, but its 12 bar blues structure does seem very out of place next to the more melodically complex stuff like Norwegian Wood and In My Life

I'll Be Back fits more with Beatles For Sale then A Hard Day's Night , which is one of the reasons i like Beatles '65.

Actually I'm not sure about this one. AHDN is their most cohesive and unified release pre-Rubber Soul IMO and I find I'll Be Back fits it really well as a closer, and makes a nice change from the rock n roll numbers they typically closed their albums with at the time.

I've always felt the same... the laid-back marijuana feel suits 'Beatles For Sale ' much better, in my opinion... what's interesting is that Capitol also added 'You Can't Do That ' to the 8-Track Cartridge version of 'Beatles '65' which seems way out of place to me, I think that they tacked it onto the end...:-)

I feel Fine. To me it sounds more like the 1965 Help ! period instead of the 1964 Beatles For Sale one.

I’ve always felt like I Feel Fine would’ve fit into Rubber Soul nicely. Next to Day Tripper , if that made the cut.
