I’m buying a new kit and I don’t know. His tone is kind of soft, but at the same time it cuts through. If anyone knows, or wants to speculate… do it here.

(By the way, there’s no “Neely” in the pull-down menu of @ names)

I suppose the best song to be able to hear Ringo’s bass drum, because on most songs it’s engineered to be way in the background at best for people who don’t have an expert ear like me and often can’t tell the difference between a bass drum and a deep dead sounding tom tom — is that drum solo that comes near the end of the medley on Abbey Road .

An example of how I can’t tell where the bass drum is, here is an isolated track of Ringo’s drums on Come Together , and I can’t for the life of me detect any bass drum at all, unless some of that deep tom tom work in fact the bass drum.

I just realized even that drum solo from the end of the medley could be a tom tom and NOT a bass drum!
