Change in plans. Mr. Ahhh Girl isn’t going to the concert. @Expert Textpert has offered the extra ticket to a friend of his. I hope he can get off work and go with us.

Yes indeed! Tonight’s the night! The only thing marring it is knowing that I have to catch a 6am flight tomorrow morning for a business trip that was sprung on me late Thursday afternoon :-(…I’m gonna be a tired (but happy!) boy!

I’ll be able to nap on the plane at least…only a 2 hour flight, but it’ll be worth it!

Great review DrB!
It was as if I wrote it myself after the 10 June Albany show, right down to the venue. It seems the Albany Palace Theatre and the Providence Performing Arts Center have much in common in terms of ambience and acoustics. Here are a couple of interior shots of The palace.
Glad you enjoyed it – I had an incredibly great time.

Oooo, thank you for the report, @DrBeatle! As if I weren’t already excited enough, now I can’t wait for July 5th.
I will be one of the people at that show who has Ringo’s latest album, and I can’t wait for the next one.
You made this comment in your report: “Ringo will never be confused for Paul or anyone else when it comes to songwriting or having an acclaimed back catalog, and he knows that.” Oh, but I Ringo’s music. I see all the cool songs he has helped write over the years, and I smile, and smile, and smile. I adore his voice. As I mentioned in a thread somewhere, his voice is right in my comfort zone.

^you’ll have a great time, for sure!
What I meant by that comment is that no one is (or should be) necessarily going to his concerts expecting an experience like you get when you see Paul, or Pete Townshend, or Ray Davies, or any other acclaimed songwriter of that generation. But what you do get is a GREAT band playing loads of awesome songs. I’m a big original-Santana fan so those songs were great, but I even loved the Toto, Mr. Mister, and Rundgren songs they played and I only know those from the radio over the decades because I’m not a fan. It was that good.

You are going to see Ringo the same night I am going to see Paul. A Beatley night to be sure!

If you know what time you will be toasting, let me know. From Albany NY, I will turn myself toward Thackerville OK with a bottle of ale held high and join you.

Ringo’s in Chicago, and his artwork is available to view in at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Ringo says he loves visiting Chicago when it’s not wintertime.
“It’s an open city, I wander round, there’s not a lot of hustle here, I find,” said Starr.
Did he just call Chicago boring? Not that he’s entirely wrong…

I don’t think that it’s boring as much as it’s relatively slower compared to say New York City or London. But I don’t think there’s too much to do other than visit the Sears Tower.

He could simply be saying that it’s somewhere he can wander round without being bothered by fans too much.

That and Chicago’s eternal inferiority complex as the “second city” (although nowadays it’s not even the second city…more like the fourth or fifth with the growth of LA, Houston, Dallas, etc)
