Listening to this earlier and it gets better each time tho isn’t as consistently strong as the predecessor ‘Ringo’ is?

‘(It’s All Down To) Goodnight Vienna’ is a great number written by John which flies by.

‘Occapella’ and Oo Wee’ as incredibly catchy, even if you don’t want them to be.

Love the lines

I tried to make my parents proud
By adapting the social powers
Oh, pigs will fly and the Earth will fry
When they get me doing honest hours

in ‘Snookeroo’ plus when Ringo sings “I broke all the rules when I went to school But the teacher’s couldn’t pin me down” I wonder if Ringo couldn’t be pinned down as he was hardly ever there.

Is there a nod to the Beatles ‘I’m Down ‘ in ‘All By Myself’ as one of the vocals clearly sings “And don’t I’m Down ” or am I just being one of those nutty Beatles fans finding connections when there isn’t one?

And finally is ‘Husbands and Wives’ the follow-up to ‘You and Me (Babe)’? ‘You and Me (Babe)’ could very easily be the very positive I loved you and thank you for the times but i’m going to be fine without you at the outset of a separation whereas ‘Husbands and Wives’ is when the reality and sadness kicks in; when you realise that it is over.

Love this album, although I may have to agree it isn’t quite as good at Ringo. It less Beatles references, although it has a nice allusion to With A Little Help From My Friends with the “Billy Shears” progression.

Oddly, the extended version of Six O’Clock was released with The reissue of Goodnight Vienna rather than Ringo. Listening through the reissue, I found it to be the best track on there, which says something about the quality of “Ringo.” But anyway, Paul wrote it and its a fantastic song.

I’m not a fan of Six O’Clock. I think Snookeroo and Occapella are better.

The No-No Song and Six O’Clock are probably the two cheesiest songs on the album, but possibly my two favorites. Paul couldn’t have pulled that song off, it works better with Ringo’s jaunty vocal style. Although technically Six O’Clock is not on the album. I agree that Occapella is an awesome song.

While I love Ringo, I love this album slightly more. The No No Song is one of my favorite Ringo songs ever. I also really love Occapella, The title track, Oo-wee,
Snookaroo, and Only You (And You Alone).

I actually don’t think Ringo is his best album.

I saw the movie, “The Day The Earth Stood Still” at the library yesterday, and immediately my mind went to this album when looking at the cover.

one thing that’s really funny to me:

I bought an old copy of this album about a month ago, from a used record store I used to work at

they had two copies, both were the standard “this isn’t anything special” price of $8, and both had been there for over three years

I like the No No Song also.  But I notice it pops up every Now And Then on lists of people’s most hated songs.  I’ve never understood why.  It isn’t cloyingly sentimental, it doesn’t have the type of overly cute melody that turns into an earworm, there’s no annoying riff.  I don’t get it.
