Offline I think Ringo was having a bit of fun, and the media is making more of it than it actually is. I mean, stories are surfacing now that “Paul McCartney slams Steve Martin's singing.” This comes from Steve's interview with Letterman a while ago in which he reveals Paul jokingly tells him he wasn't kidding about not being able to sing. The media takes nothing and tries to make it into something.
Do I doubt that Ringo sometimes feels a little bitterness? No…he would be inhuman not to. However, Ringo strikes me as the type of person to be happy with what he has and not care about what he doesn't. He's chill like that. (Yes, I just said chill.)

Offline kedame – chill is my favorite word. Whether or not it is en vogue… I'll let others worry about that.
As for the article, it is what it is. I can't argue about The Beatles being lucky to have Ringo. That part has been addressed by all 4 of them in interviews featured in Anthology and elsewhere.
As for Paul being busy? Umm… has anybody seen the man's schedule?
As for the “last remaining Beatle” bit – after all these years, Ringo has definitely learned how to work the media. Either that, or a term ending with savant is in order. Either way, I still love the guy.

Maybe Paul will start claiming that he's actually the only remaining Hurricane! It certainly wouldn't be any more ludicrous a claim than Ringo's.
I can only assume that Ringo's remarks were intended facetiously, that's the only way I'd find them palatable. Really, whatever happened to the cheerful old self-deprecating Ringo? I miss him! On the other hand, though, Paul's always got such kind words for Ringo's drumming – why not extend an offer to tour with HIS band? And let him sing “Yellow Submarine ” and “With a Little Help …” and “Photograph” and whatever?
Really, this sniping is pretty unseemly. You wonder how much different it would've been if the only two (yes, TWO!) surviving Beatles weren't the two with the biggest solo-career success disparity between them.

Wow! No one hates anyone around here. We can get on each other’s nerves sometimes if we don’t agree, but there is no need to be so hostile to Sun King . You don’t even really know him. Try to be a little more courteous if you are going to stick around. There is no need to add things to a thread if they do not further conversation. All you are doing is aggravating people.
