Does anyone else own this?  I picked it up recently because I had none of his solo stuff until then.

I must warn you; if you hate fun, don't buy it. Otherwise, get it. When I first opened it and popped it in the CD player, I kept saying to myself “yeah, I remember this one!” on every song.

My wife came down into the “man cave” and said, “is that Ringo?” Even though John is her favorite singer/songwriter, Ringo is her favorite Beatle. When I showed her the cover, she said, “let me grab a couple of cold ones and I'll join you!” Have I mentioned in the past 5 minutes that she's a keeper? Anyway, I started the disc from the beginning and we sang and laughed and had a great time. I've listened to it at least 4 times since and love every song on it.

But, again, heed my warning. You may not like it if you hate fun.a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Didn't Ringo have more Top 10 singles than any other ex-Beatle by 1975 or something? I think I read that somewhere…that's a pretty good collection, but 1973's Ringo is worth owning too!

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I don't actually have the album but I've heard most of the songs on it. I just love Ringo's solo songs, most of them are just so much fun. But Photograph does kind of make me sad when I hear it. (And that's been a lot lately. Thanks Oldies 94.3)

Quick question: Is Ringo's “cowboy voice” on this?

What would an example of his “cowboy voice” be?

Um. I always thought “Don't Pass Me By” sounded cowboy-ish. Because of the fiddle. 🙂

Speaking of country music, I checked out Beaucoup of Blues…not great. Unless you like the genre more than I do, maybe.

I only “Ringo” and “Goodnight Vienna”. Are there any other good Ringo records?

Yeah, but what percentage of his songs, especially singles, were top ten? If I recall correctly, Ringo had two solo albums out by the end of 1970. He was quite prolific.

A high percent of singles. His first mainstream album was 1973’s Ringo, which spawned 3 top 10 hits.

Those weren't pop albums – meaning they weren't serious attempts at the charts.
